## Your next gear, planned in game
GearLab is a gear planner that lives in your character window. Try on items you don't own yet, see what they do to your character sheet, and let GearLab put together a best-in-slot-style loadout for the stat split you're aiming for. No sims, no exports, no website. Everything happens in game.
### Build a loadout from the stats you want
Type the percentages you're after, for example **30% crit, 20% haste, 50% mastery**. Pick a raid difficulty and a dungeon level up to **Mythic +10**, then press **Build layout**. GearLab goes through your spec's Adventure Journal loot from the current raid and season dungeons, picks one item per slot that brings you closest to your targets, and puts the result into your plan.
Select any slot and GearLab shows the **two best picks** for it. One click plans the item.
### See your future character sheet
While your plan changes gear, a **purple column** next to your normal character stats shows the values you would end up with: crit, haste, mastery, versatility, primary stat and more. GearLab uses the game's own rating conversion. Blizzard's values and tooltips stay untouched.
### Plan any item
**Alt-click** an item in your bags, the Adventure Journal, a chat link, a vendor or another addon, or drag it onto a slot. It goes into your virtual loadout. Crafted, PvP and Great Vault items work too, and layouts take them into account. Nothing is ever equipped, bought or destroyed.
### Also included
- A full planner window: equipped and planned item in every slot, item levels and quality borders, average item level before and after, and a rotatable preview of your planned look.
- Before/after stat bars for every change.
- Up to 20 saved plans per character, loaded or deleted from a menu.
- A compact panel next to your character window and an entry in the addon menu under the minimap.
- Every class and spec. GearLab reads your active spec, level and gear by itself.
### Light on your game
No libraries. With the planner closed, GearLab does no work at all. It only re-reads your gear when your equipment, spec or level actually changes, builds layouts in small slices per frame, and pauses during combat.
### Good to know
GearLab rates **item stats, not DPS**. Trinket and weapon effects, set bonuses, embellishments, gems and enchants aren't rated, and your current buffs, gems and enchants are assumed to stay. Use it to plan toward a stat goal you trust, whether that comes from your class guide, your sims or your own testing.
### Commands
- `/gearlab`: open or close the planner
- `/gearlab layout`: build a layout from your saved targets
- `/gearlab save <name>` · `load <name>` · `delete <name>`: manage plans
