What's new

GearLab 0.3.0

First CurseForge release.

Faster

  • Building a layout is about nine times faster. Each trial now updates only the stats your targets use instead of re-adding every slot, and stat conversions are reused.
  • Slot suggestions and stat comparisons are kept until your plan, targets or sheet values change, instead of being recalculated on every redraw.
  • Bag changes, loading screens and the end of combat no longer re-read all your items. GearLab rebuilds only when your equipped gear, spec or level actually changes.
  • A closed planner does no work. Bursts of item data are drawn once per frame.
  • GearLab only runs per-frame code while a layout is being built.
  • Journal loot is scanned at most three times while item data arrives, instead of five.

Clearer

  • Adding items is Alt-click or drag-and-drop. The paste boxes are gone; /gearlab add still accepts an item link from chat.
  • The planner shows your average item level, equipped and planned, and the character-window panel shows it next to the planned changes.
  • Saved plans opens a menu to load or delete a plan. /gearlab delete <name> also deletes one.
  • GearLab has an entry in the addon menu under the minimap.
  • Hover the raid and dungeon level buttons to see how they work.
  • The developer-only workload probe and the Diagnostics tab are gone. /gearlab report opens a copyable problem report.
  • Messages use plain wording, for example "after combat" instead of "addon restrictions".
  • Layouts never plan the same weapon in both hands, or an item above your level.

Unchanged

Stat comparisons, the purple character-window values, stat-target layouts, the Journal loot pool and saved plans work as in 0.2.1. Earlier notes are in docs/releases in the source repository.
