Focal Point 1.2.5
What's new
Focal Point 1.2.5
This release brings several runtime optimizations discovered during the ongoing development of Focal Point 2.0 back into the current 1.2.5 version.
The goal is simple: reduce unnecessary background work while keeping the existing behavior unchanged.
Performance improvements
- Reduced unnecessary text updates while unit frames are idle.
- Status text updates are now more event-driven instead of being checked repeatedly in the background.
- Timer-based text such as status and death timers is now updated once per second instead of several times per second.
- Reduced unnecessary range-fade polling for frames that do not require continuous range checks.
- Removed obsolete internal text-tag code that was no longer used.
- Reduced fallback updates for unknown text dependencies.
What this means in practice
Focal Point now performs significantly less background work, especially while frames are unlocked or being edited.
During internal profiling, the allocation rate in Unlock Mode dropped substantially after these changes, while preserving the existing visual and text behavior.
There are no layout, profile, preset, or configuration changes in this release.
Looking ahead
These improvements originated from the ongoing Focal Point 2.0 development work. Where it makes sense and can be done safely, improvements found during 2.0 development will continue to be brought back to the current stable version.
