Description
Focal Point
Keep your UI. Replace only your unit frames.
Focal Point is a visual in-game editor for building custom unit frames directly inside World of Warcraft.
Keep your action bars, nameplates, bags, WeakAuras, raid tools, and the rest of your existing UI. Replace only the unit frames you want to change - then move, resize, and customize them directly in the game world with immediate visual feedback.
Start with a preset, customize it visually, save your work as a reusable layout, or build your own setup from the ground up.
Focal Point 2.0 is in development
Work is well underway on the next major version of Focal Point.
Version 2.0 is rebuilding the editor around a cleaner layout workflow, object-based selection, a composition tree, and more direct interaction with unit-frame components.
The goal is to make editing feel even more like working in a visual design tool inside World of Warcraft, while keeping the flexibility and direct control that Focal Point is built around.
A public beta will follow once the new editor is stable enough for meaningful testing.
The current stable version remains fully usable and supported while 2.0 is in development.
New in Focal Point 1.2
Focal Point 1.2 introduces a new *Layouts* workspace that brings profiles, presets, and specialization-based profile switching together in one place.
Profiles
Profiles are the layouts you actively use and edit.
Create different layouts for characters, roles, or playstyles, copy existing profiles, import and export layouts, and save any finished profile as a reusable preset.
Presets
Presets are reusable layout templates.
Preview a preset before using it, apply built-in presets to your current profile, create a new profile from any preset, or build your own preset library from layouts you already use.
User presets can be renamed and deleted, while built-in presets remain safely read-only.
Automation
Assign profiles to your specializations and let Focal Point switch layouts automatically when your specialization changes.
This creates one connected workflow:
Profile → Save as Preset → Preview Preset → Create Profile
Presets remain reusable templates. Profiles remain the editable layouts you actually use in-game.
A faster, visual way to build unit frames
Configure less by guessing. Design more by seeing.
Focal Point combines direct manipulation with the depth of a specialized unit-frame editor:
- Select unit frames directly in the game world
- Move and resize frames with the mouse
- Use Snap Lines for fast, precise positioning
- Select, move, and align multiple frames
- Edit text directly on the frame
- Adjust the selected element in a context-sensitive inspector
- Switch between Quick Mode and Expert Mode
- Preview every change immediately
- Simulate targets, bosses, combat states, resources, auras, and casts
- Build custom text visually
- Browse fonts and textures with live previews
- Save complete layouts as profiles or reusable presets
You can start with a preset, customize it visually, or build an entire layout from the ground up.
A dedicated tool for unit frames
Complete UI packages are ideal when you want to adopt an entire interface.
Focal Point is built for players who want detailed control over their unit frames while keeping the rest of their existing UI.
Use it to:
- Replace only the unit frames you want to change
- Match your frames to your action bars, nameplates, and WeakAuras
- Create different layouts for characters, roles, or playstyles
- Build around the information that matters to you
- Control both the overall design and individual details
- Test situations without waiting for the correct target, boss, or combat state
One visual workflow
-
Select a unit from the sidebar or click its frame directly.
-
Move, resize, and align the frame in the game world.
-
Customize its bars, text, indicators, auras, fonts, and textures.
-
Use Demo Mode to test different units and states.
-
Manage the finished layout in Layouts.
- Save it as a profile, turn it into a reusable preset, or assign profiles to specializations.
The selected frame and its configuration remain connected throughout the process. You always edit the element you can see.
Quick when you want it. Detailed when you need it.
Quick Mode keeps the most important controls accessible for fast setup and everyday customization.
Expert Mode provides deeper control over layout, appearance, visibility, texts, auras, indicators, and individual frame elements.
You can move between both workflows without maintaining separate configurations.
