Focal Point 1.1.0
What's new
Focal Point 1.1.0
Focal Point 1.1.0 is the largest workflow update so far. This release expands the addon from a visual unit-frame editor into a more complete in-game editing environment for text and media. The two biggest additions are Visual Text Editing and the new Media Library workflow. Together, they make it much easier to adjust how your frames look without digging through file paths, guessing texture names, or jumping between unrelated menus.
Visual Text Editing
Text editing is now much more direct. Focal Point now includes a dedicated Text Mode that lets you work with text elements visually on unlocked unit frames. Instead of only changing values in the Inspector, you can select text elements directly on the frame, move them, adjust anchors, and immediately see how the layout responds.
Highlights include:
- Text Mode with direct text element selection
- Hover and selection outlines for visible text elements
- Direct dragging for text positioning
- A visual anchor picker for selected text elements
- Mouse wheel font sizing
- Context menu reset actions for text position and font size
- Better synchronization between visual editing and the Inspector
- Stable Cast Bar text preview behavior while editing
This release also improves how text elements behave in preview and editor states. Empty, inactive, or disabled text elements are filtered more consistently, and selected text elements stay in sync with the Inspector more reliably. Expert Mode now also exposes Dead and Ghost state templates for selected text elements, making state-specific text behavior configurable without editing SavedVariables manually.
Media Library
Focal Point now has a Media Library browser for choosing fonts and statusbar textures. This is a major step toward a cleaner media workflow. Instead of choosing from static path lists, the editor can now present built-in media, Blizzard media, Focal Point media, and shared media registered by other installed addons through LibSharedMedia.
The Media Library includes:
- Font and statusbar texture browsing
- Search
- Source filtering
- Live previews
- Clear Current and Selected states
- Apply and Cancel workflow
- Source, provider, missing, legacy, fallback, and resolved asset information
- Inspector Browse buttons for supported media fields
Media selections now resolve through a central Media Registry. This gives Focal Point stable references for built-in, shared, missing, legacy, and fallback media while preserving existing profile behavior. Shared media remains owned and provided by the addon or media package that registered it; Focal Point discovers and uses it at runtime but does not bundle or relicense those files.
Polish and Integration
The browser and Inspector workflows received a lot of integration polish. Media previews are clearer, scroll position is retained, source labels are more explicit, and Apply/Cancel now behave like a controlled selection workflow instead of an immediate mutation. The Inspector remains the owner of configuration changes, while the browser acts as a safe selection helper.
Text template tooling also benefits from the broader 1.1.0 work. Template usage and validation paths are more consistent, missing references are easier to understand, and Dead/Ghost state template assignments can now be configured in Expert Mode.
Focal Point 1.1.0 is not a full UI replacement and does not change the core idea of the addon. It keeps the existing editor structure, but makes two important parts of customization much more visual: text editing and media selection. If you build or fine-tune custom unit frames in-game, this release should make the process noticeably smoother.
