Emote Assist

A Simple addon to allow the user to customise and select emotes

Emote Assist (EA)

Click-to-send emotes, organised your way. Emote Assist gives you a tidy window of ready-made emotes sorted into categories. Pick one, click it, and it goes out as a normal emote. Perfect for raids, taverns, guild banter and generally winding people up.

Built for WoW Classic Era.

Features

  • 10 starter categories with 15 emotes each: Greetings, Funny, Sarcastic, Very Rude, Flirty, Annoyed, Raid, Death, Mage and Tavern.
  • Fully editable: add, rename, delete and reorder categories, and add, edit and delete emotes. The starter content is treated exactly like your own, so change or remove whatever you like.
  • One emote, many categories: tick as many categories as you want for each emote.
  • Target aware: use %T for your target's name. Emotes that need a target are greyed out until you have one.
  • Sex aware: the addon reads the sex of your character and of your target, so the wording fits automatically.
  • Live preview: the editor shows the finished line as you type, with buttons to test male, female and neutral wording.
  • Minimap button or floating icon: it starts on the minimap. Switch to a floating icon if you prefer, then Shift-drag to move it and Shift-mouse-wheel to resize it.
  • Preview-only mode: print emotes to your own chat frame instead of sending them, handy for testing.

Writing your own emotes

Custom emotes always display with your character's name in front, so write them as actions:

tells %T to shut %his mouth. -> Tomfool tells Razzpants to shut her mouth.

Token What it does
%T Your target's name
%he %him %his %himself Your target's pronouns (he/she/they, him/her/them, and so on). Capitalise for He, Him, His
{m=his;f=her;n=their} Picks the wording
