Guild Bank Share (GBS)

Guild Bank Share is a World of Warcraft Classic Era addon for sharing useful information about the contents of a guild bank with other addon users.

What does GBS do?

A designated guild-bank character can scan and publish information about items and resources available to the guild.

Other GBS users can receive and retain that shared information locally, allowing them to see what the guild bank has available without requiring the banker to be online at the same time.

Crafting Use Case - Primary Objective

For crafting, GBS can provide information about patterns, recipes, formulas, plans, schematics and other useful profession-related items available through the guild bank.

GBS compares the bank inventory against their own list of known craft skills and alerts when there is a suitable, unknown recipe in the bank inventory.

Included is an semi-automated in-game mail request function to streamline user/banker requests.

Designed for Guild Use

GBS is intended for guilds where useful items and resources are held across one or more guild-bank characters and where members need a convenient way to discover what is available.

The system is designed to:

• Share information from the guild bank to addon users.
• Keep received information available locally.
• Avoid requiring the banker to be online for every lookup.
• Keep each user's private profession knowledge local.
• Separate publishing guild-bank information from consuming and using that information.
• Provide a foundation that can be expanded beyond crafting.

Why "Guild Bank Share"?

GBS simplifies the publication, distribution and item request calls that often require whispers, Discord direct messages or channels, instead retaining all functions within the game.

Future uses may include:

• Profession patterns and recipes
• Crafting materials and reagents
• Consumables
• Useful guild-bank items
• BoEs and other equipment
• Other resources the guild wants its members to know about

The goal is not to turn the guild bank into a complicated database. It is simply to make useful guild-bank information easier for guild members to discover.

Privacy

GBS is designed around a simple rule:

Publish guild-bank availability; do not publish individual crafter knowledge.

A crafter's known patterns and recipes are used locally when required. GBS does not need to broadcast that information to other guild members.

Development

GBS is being developed for World of Warcraft Classic Era.

The project is intended to evolve incrementally, with the initial focus on reliable guild-bank data sharing before adding additional consumers and functionality.
