Description
Dead But Delicious
Every corpse is a meal. Every meal deserves a review.
You're Undead. You have Cannibalize. And every time you use it, you kneel over a corpse in total silence, like some kind of animal.
Dead But Delicious gives your Forsaken a voice at the dinner table. Target a corpse, Cannibalize it with the addon's key binding or icon, and your character reviews the meal out loud, in /say, like a food critic with no lips and very strong opinions:
Murloc. Salty, with a fishy finish. Mrglrgl to you too.
Kobold. Tastes like candle wax and bad decisions.
Ghost meat. Zero calories. Diet food.
Tauren steak, medium rare. The Earth Mother would not approve.
Forsaken. Cannibalism? We call it family dinner.
What's on the menu
The comment fits what you're eating:
- Monsters by name: murlocs, kobolds, gnolls, trolls, ogres, harpies, centaurs, quilboar, naga, furbolgs, troggs, goblins, gnomes, dwarves, orcs, tauren and night elves.
- Factions: the Defias, the Scarlet Crusade, pirates, the Syndicate and the cults of the Scourge.
- The undead: Forsaken, ghosts, skeletons, ghouls, zombies and abominations.
- A few famous names: Hogger, VanCleef and Herod each get their own lines.
- Players by race, Horde and Alliance alike.
- Anything else by type (Humanoid or Undead), and a "mystery meat" line when you eat from your action bar with nothing targeted.
Over 300 hand-written lines, picked at random and never the same one twice in a row.
How it works
Target the corpse and Cannibalize with:
- the key binding (Options > Keybindings > Dead But Delicious),
- the icon next to the target frame, shown only while your target is a corpse you can eat, with Cannibalize's cooldown on it,
- or a macro:
/click DeadButDeliciousButton.
One press casts Cannibalize and says the line. The game only lets addons speak during a key press or click, so the review goes out with the press. The critic keeps quiet when the cast won't work: you're moving, Cannibalize is on cooldown, or the corpse is out of reach.
Cast Cannibalize from your normal action bar and you still get a review, but only you can see it.
Say it your way

Dungeons and raids
On WoW Forever, the game hides what a corpse is inside dungeons and raids, so the addon can't tell a meal from a raptor. It stays out of the way there: no icon, no reviews. Cannibalize itself works as usual. Classic Era hides nothing, so there the critic reviews everywhere.

Write a review for the critic!
The critic's palate grows with every update, and the best lines come from players. Leave a comment with your own lines, and say which corpse they're for:
- A monster or faction already on the menu: a new line for murlocs, the Defias, ghouls…
- A monster with no lines yet: the Twilight's Hammer, the Burning Blade, Kul Tiran marines, gargoyles. Tell us its name as it shows on the corpse. Cannibalize only works on Humanoid and Undead corpses, so no wolves.
- A player race: what does a gnome taste like to you?
- A famous name: a boss or rare you'd love to eat, like Hogger, VanCleef or Herod.
- Any corpse at all: a line that works on anything.
For example:
Kobold: "Kobold. The candle was the best part."
Keep it short enough for one /say line. Use {name} where the corpse's name should go: "{name}. Needs salt." The best lines go into the next update. You can also post them on GitHub.
