CastTiming

Tracks what the other healers are casting and on who. With markers to time your casts

Cast Timing

Cast Timing is a standalone World of Warcraft addon for The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary.

It tracks cast-time healing spells started by other recognized healers in your current party or raid and shows when you should begin one of two configured healing spells so your heal lands shortly after theirs.

Main Window

The main window has three columns:
  • Healer: recognized healer name, optionally class colored.
  • Spell: spell icon, rank when known, cast bar, optional spell name, timing markers, and countdown.
  • Target: original target when reliably available.

Rows are persistent. A healer row stays visible while idle, dead, or disconnected. Cast activity never changes row order. Raid rows are ordered by subgroup and raid roster order. Party rows follow party order.

The window hides while solo and when no other recognized healer exists. It returns automatically when the saved show preference is enabled and healers are detected.

Timing Markers

Each active cast bar uses a fixed 3.0 second time window, matching the longest normal healing cast. Shorter casts enter the bar already partially filled because less than 3.0 seconds remain until the heal lands.

Each active cast may show two vertical markers. Marker positions are fixed on that 3.0 second scale and are placed at:

your selected spell cast duration - landing gap seconds before the tracked heal lands

The default landing gap is 0.10 seconds, meaning a heal started exactly on the marker would land 0.10 seconds after the tracked heal. Normal player reaction time adds more separation. Markers disappear as soon as their ideal start moment passes and do not return during that same cast. Pushback or other authoritative cast-time changes update future marker timing against the new landing time.

Minimap Controls

  • Left-click: toggle the main window.
  • Right-click: open options.
  • Drag: move the minimap button.

The minimap position is saved per character. /ct minimap toggles it when hidden.

Slash Commands

  • /ct: toggle the main window.
  • /ct options: open the options window.
  • /ct lock: lock or unlock the frame.
  • /ct minimap: toggle the minimap button.
  • /ct reset: reset frame position, column widths, and visible rows after confirmation.
  • /ct debug: toggle concise debug logging.
  • /ct help: print command help.

Healer Detection

Only Priests, Paladins, Druids, and Shamans can be automatically or manually included as healers.

Detection priority:

  1. Session-only manual override.
  2. Assigned group role when the client provides useful role data.
  3. Throttled asynchronous talent inspection when available.
  4. Observed eligible healing casts for the current group session.

Manual overrides are runtime only and are never written to saved variables.

Communication

Other healers do not need Cast Timing for their spell and cast timer to appear. Local unit-cast APIs are always the authoritative timer source.

When another healer also runs Cast Timing, compact addon messages can provide target and rank-specific spell ID information. Communication never broadcasts countdowns, progress, or timer values, and it never creates cast bars without a matching live cast from local unit-cast data.
