What's new

  • BattleMaps 2.8.16
  • This release includes a larger batch of BattleMaps work than the version number alone suggests, particularly around the player marker/FoV presentation and battleground-specific objective handling.
  • Player marker & Field of View
  • Expanded player marker choices with Blizzard, Arrow, Compass, and Team styles.
  • Added multiple FoV presentations, including Simple, Cold Rays, and Sunbeam.
  • Added independent FoV scale and FoV alpha controls so the effect can be tuned separately from player-pin size.
  • Added layered FoV rendering so core light and terrain/accent passes can use different blending and depth relationships.
  • Added map-specific live FoV masking across supported battlegrounds, allowing the effect to better respect each map's playable terrain and authored boundaries.
  • Improved live FoV initialization so the effect no longer depends on changing the FoV scale after entering a battleground.
  • FoV rendering remains BattleMaps-owned and mouse-inert rather than modifying Blizzard map pins.
  • Battleground objective fixes
  • Temple of Kotmogu: improved stationary and carried orb handling, including more reliable objective ownership through state changes.
  • Temple of Kotmogu: strengthened the Spawn Tether presentation and added bounded directional chevrons along the tether.
  • Temple of Kotmogu: improved carried-orb colour handling and objective identity.
  • Deephaul Ravine: improved crystal spawn, delivery, despawn, and respawn lifecycle handling, including additional battleground/raid-emote event sources and a delivery-respawn fallback.
  • Seething Shore: improved live Azerite-node handling and selection so stale/obsolete phase records are less likely to remain visible or appear as duplicate objectives.
  • Arathi Basin: corrected legacy/current map-ID handling so BattleMaps uses the proper modern AB map art and objective data rather than resolving the legacy ID as Eye of the Storm.
  • Warsong Gulch / Twin Peaks / Eye of the Storm: extended Spawn Tether support to the supported carried-objective maps.
  • Unified carried-objective colour settings. Original preserves the flag/orb's own identity, while Carrier faction colours a carried objective to match its carrier.
  • Spawn Tether and Kotmogu tether chevrons now follow the resolved carried-objective colour.
  • Team & healer pins
  • Simplified team-pin stacking around the production radial/low-discrepancy spread used in live battlegrounds.
  • Test Mode and live battlegrounds now use the same stacking geometry generator.
  • Restored healer icon sizing after the stacking refactor.
  • Corrected healer Icon only border scaling and made healer-size scaling consistent between Test Mode and live rendering.
  • Map & interface polish
  • Reworked the map title controls around a clearer Lock / Unlock layout-editing model.
  • The hover header now sits above the map rather than shrinking/reflowing the map canvas when it appears.
  • Added battleground-only Objective Tracker suppression with restoration after leaving the battleground.
  • Continued cleanup of battleground-specific notification placement and full-screen World Map notification handoff.
  • ElvUI compatibility
  • Improved ElvUI PvP objective-carrier classification refresh during live battlegrounds.
  • Fixed carrier-frame discovery for ElvUI raid frames created as secure-header oUF children.
  • BattleMaps refreshes ElvUI's existing PvPClassificationIndicator rather than creating or attaching replacement regions to secure ElvUI unit frames.
  • Removed the earlier experimental ElvUI unit-frame carrier-overlay approach after it proved unsafe.
  • Improved /bmap carriercheck diagnostics for discovered, enabled, refreshed, and currently classified group frames.
