Description

Auto Loot Spec

Stop forgetting to swap loot specialization when the next boss (or dungeon) wants a different one.

Author: Teodoro (TeoDaTank) · Version: 1.3.2 · Slash: /als or /autolootspec

Why this exists

Loot specialization is easy to set and even easier to forget.

You pull a raid boss that drops for one spec, then the next wants another. You zone into a Mythic+ and realize you’re still on yesterday’s outdoor default. Optimizing drops on a per-boss or per-dungeon / difficulty basis means constant manual swaps — and missed upgrades when you don’t.

Auto Loot Spec remembers those choices per character and applies them for you: outdoor world, current-season dungeons, and dungeon/raid/world bosses keyed by difficulty.

What it does

Piece What you get
Outdoor default Loot spec when you’re not in a dungeon/raid
Season dungeons One loot-spec assign per dungeon × difficulty (Normal / Heroic / Mythic / Mythic+)
Boss assigns One loot-spec per boss × difficulty (raids: LFR/N/H/M; dungeon bosses use dungeon diffs)
Adventure Guide bridge Opens that instance/boss in the journal (Loot tab); journal has an ALS button back to the UI; loot rows show stylized loot-spec icons
What’s New? Footer button on the ALS panel — in-game release notes for the current version
Catalog Dungeons/raids/bosses seeded from the Encounter Journal + current M+ pool — no need to visit content first

Assignments are per character. Names, season flags, and the journal catalog are account-wide.

Quick start

  1. /reload after install (or enable the addon and relog).
  2. Type /als to open the panel (centers on first launch; drag to remember position).
  3. Set Outdoor default on the first tab.
  4. Under Current Season Dungeons, pick a difficulty (e.g. Mythic+), then set a loot spec per dungeon.
  5. Open Dungeon / Raid Boss, set raid difficulty (e.g. Mythic), expand Raids → Current Season, and assign per boss.
  6. Use Guide on a row to jump to that encounter’s loot in the Adventure Guide.

How it works

When specs apply

  • Zoning outdoors → outdoor default
  • Entering a dungeon → that instance + difficulty (first visit can prompt you)
  • Pulling a raid/world boss → that encounter + difficulty
  • Dungeon bosses → boss assign if you set one; otherwise the dungeon-level assign from enter still applies

Spec picker

Click a loot-spec button to open a small menu: Keep Current, Active Spec, or any of your class specializations — no cycling through them one by one.

Hover preview shows Eligible / Ineligible loot for that spec. Ineligible rows show which specs unlock the item. The preview opens toward open space so it stays on-screen.

Adventure Guide

On a dungeon/raid detail page you’ll see the ALS button (beside Raider.IO when both are present). On the Loot tab, stylized loot-spec icons appear beside each item and follow the class filter you’re browsing in the journal.

Tips

  • Set Mythic and Heroic separately for the same raid boss when you care about both.
  • Season dungeon tab = “what I run in M+ this season”; boss tab = fine-grained raid (and optional dungeon boss) control.
  • After a patch, give catalog refresh a moment on first login — or use Refresh Catalog if something looks stale.
