AetherText

AetherText is a stylized, customizable floating combat text addon created for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary. It replaces plain outgoing combat feedback with clear animated numbers, distinct visual identities, and readable combat outcomes while remaining lightweight and focused.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Displays outgoing damage above visible enemy nameplates.
• Gives direct, periodic, and companion damage distinct presentation.
• Tracks damage caused by player-owned pets, guardians, and summoned companions.
• Emphasizes critical damage and healing with dedicated artwork and optional decorative stars.
• Displays miss, resist, immune, dodge, parry, evade, block, absorb, deflect, and reflect outcomes.
• Shows effective outgoing healing on friendly nameplates and supported Blizzard party or raid frames, with configurable fallback placement.
• Identifies fully ineffective healing with an optional OVERHEAL status.
• Provides independent controls for damage, companion damage, healing, statuses, overhealing, and critical-star artwork.
• Includes controls for text size, animation duration, rise distance, arc intensity, and healing fallback positions.
• Can toggle Blizzard's native outgoing damage and healing numbers independently.
• Includes built-in visual previews and a draggable minimap launcher.

CONFIGURATION

Click the AetherText minimap button or use /atconfig or /atoptions to open the configuration panel.

The panel is organized into five pages:

• Combat — damage, companion damage, combat statuses, critical stars, and Blizzard damage-number integration.
• Healing — effective healing, overhealing, and Blizzard healing-number integration.
• Display — independent size controls for the major visual types.
• Animation — vertical offset, rise distance, arc intensity, and animation duration.
• Position — screen and unit-frame fallback offsets for healing text.

Use /atminimap reset if the minimap button needs to be restored to its default position.

PREVIEW AND DIAGNOSTIC COMMANDS

• /atext demo — preview an animated normal damage number.
• /atext crit — preview critical damage.
• /atext resist — preview a combat-status result.
• /aheal test — preview normal healing on a friendly target.
• /aheal crit — preview critical healing.
• /aheal overheal — preview the overheal status.
• /atext hide — immediately clear active AetherText displays.

Type /atext or /aheal help in game for the full diagnostic command list.

AetherText is designed around Blizzard nameplates and unit frames. Third-party frame replacements may cause healing text to use its configurable fallback position.

SAVED SETTINGS

AetherText settings are stored account-wide in AetherTextDB. Updating the addon does not remove existing preferences.
