AetherText

AetherText is a highly customizable floating combat-text addon for World of Warcraft Classic: Burning Crusade. It presents your outgoing damage, healing, companion damage, combat outcomes, and mana events with readable motion and handcrafted visual themes.

Each class has its own authored visual language:

Class and ability treatments use exact, conservative routing. If an event cannot be identified confidently, AetherText keeps it in the standard presentation instead of guessing.

Conservatory

Choose Aether Classic, your class's Resonance library, or one of six universal themes:

• Graven Nocturne
• Netherglass
• Vellum & Malachite
• Clearwater
• Emberglass
• Moonwater

The built-in preview cards make it easy to compare styles before entering combat.

Aetherflow

Aetherflow provides optional mana feedback through separate Active, Passive, and Consumable channels. Use Simple Mode for a quick setup or adjust captions, scale, motion, and channel behavior individually.

Configuration

Open AetherText from its minimap button or with:

Settings are organized into four pages: Combat, Healing, Display, and Mana. Preferences are stored account-wide in AetherTextDB.

AetherText works with Blizzard nameplates and is designed to avoid protected nameplate and aura regions during combat.

Updating

Large AetherText updates may include new texture paths. Fully exit World of Warcraft before replacing the addon folder, then relaunch once so the client loads every texture correctly. Existing preferences are preserved.

Privacy and update checks

AetherText does not use an external network, analytics, or telemetry. Its optional peer-assisted update notice exchanges only the addon's semantic version through World of Warcraft's built-in addon-message system with eligible guild or group peers. It does not transmit gameplay, chat, character-profile, or account data.

Reporting an issue

When reporting a problem, please include your AetherText version, the spell or action involved, whether a nameplate was visible, and any Lua error text.
