Nuke Social Bunny

Completely removes all Social Bunny features from the game, including background NPC processes

⚠️ Status: TESTED & COMPATIBLE with the September 22nd, 2026 Patch (PC/Mac: 1.128.90)

Nuke Social Bunny

by deadlystingnyc

Not interested in Social Bunny but tired of notifications, phone badges, and NPC posting-related lag you never asked for? Nuke Social Bunny removes it entirely, globally, for every Sim in your game, and stops the background simulation work it generates in vanilla whether you use it or not.

Why You Need This

The in-game Deactivate Social Bunny interaction only affects a single Sim and leaves NPC posting running in the background. Every NPC added as a Social Bunny contact is given a hidden commodity that decays continuously, including off-lot, and fires Social Bunny reactions and posts as it drains. This happens whether you ever look at Social Bunny or not, and it negatively affects game performance.

A mod is the only way to switch it all off at once, for good.

What Gets Removed

  • All Social Bunny menu entries on the phone, computer, and tablet
  • Phone badge and post reminder notifications
  • Posts, direct messages, friend requests, and follower updates
  • The NPC posting commodity, blocked from being handed out and stripped from NPCs that already carry it in an existing save

That last point is the important one. The background work stops rather than being generated and then discarded.

Replaces Other Social Bunny Mods

If you have either of these installed, you can remove them:

TURBODRIVER's Fix Social Bunny Simulation Lag trims the NPC posting commodity but keeps Social Bunny working for your active household and re-seeds the commodity on your contacts at every zone load. This mod disables the commodity outright. NOTE: Turbodriver's mod is the one to use if you want ANY Sim to continue using Social Bunny.

Kuttoe's No Social Bunny Reminder blanks the post reminder notification, duplicating functionality included here. It will not cause issues if left installed, but it will have no effect either.

Notes

Does not affect the Social Media career or computer Social Networking from City Living. Those use a separate follower statistic and are untouched.

Pets and Sims below teen never receive the hidden disable traits because EA restricts them to humans aged teen and older. This only affects menu visibility. Posting is blocked for those Sims regardless.

Safe to remove. Sims keep the hidden disable traits after uninstalling, which leaves them in the same state as any Sim who used the game's own Deactivate Social Bunny option. Without this mod the Social Bunny app is available on the phone again, so tap Activate Social Bunny there to switch it back on for a Sim. NPCs need no action.

Hi, I'm deadlystingnyc! I've been playing Sims since way back in the Sims 1 days! I'm a Sr. SDET by day, and in my off hours I make mods I want in my own Sims 4 game. I'm so happy that other people seem to like them too!
