⚠️ Status: TESTED & COMPATIBLE with the September 22nd, 2026 Patch (PC/Mac: 1.128.90)
Facial Hair Control
by deadlystingnyc
The same precise control you have over hair in Hair Control, now for facial hair! Facial Hair Control adds a pie menu to every Sim that lets you randomize facial hair styles, manage eyebrows, blacklist unwanted facial hair styles, and control which facial hair styles appear on NPCs across your game.
Getting Started
Do this first before anything else works.
- Install the mod (see Installation below)
- Launch the game and click any Sim
- Go to Facial Hair Control → Build Facial Hair Config
This scans your game and generates your facial hair whitelist. You only need to
do this once. All menu options unlock after the first build. If you later install new packs or CC, run dsn_build_facial_hair_list in the cheat console to rebuild without losing your blacklist.
⚠️ The scan can only detect facial hair for gender combinations present in the zone at build time. If your catalog build detected a missing age/gender pair it will let you know in the notification. Make sure Sims of each gender are in the zone before rebuilding. When in doubt, run the build again.
What You Can Do
All changes apply to all outfits, including bathing, career, and situation outfits. Facial hair is treated as a physical characteristic, not a per-outfit styling choice.
Click any Sim to open the Facial Hair Control submenu:
| Option | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Change Facial Hair | On a Sim with facial hair: keeps their color and picks a different style. On a clean-shaven Sim: adds facial hair matching their hair color. |
| Change Eyebrows | Random eyebrow style at the Sim's current color, preferring their own frame |
| Shape Eyebrows | Random eyebrow style in the same shape family (Arched, Curved, Straight...), same color |
| Remove Facial Hair | Clears facial hair from every outfit |
| Blacklist Facial Hair for All | Removes the current style from the pool for all genders |
| Blacklist Facial Hair for Females | Removes the current style for female Sims only |
| Blacklist Facial Hair for Males | Removes the current style for male Sims only |
| Enable / Disable FH Spawn Control | Turns automatic NPC facial hair replacement on or off |
| Enable / Disable CC Facial Hair | Toggles whether CC facial hair is included |
| Enable / Disable Match Hair Color | Toggles whether facial hair is colored to match head hair |
Blacklist and Settings options live in their own submenus to keep the top level clean.
Blacklist options only appear on whitelisted facial hair, only on a Sim of the matching gender, and only for genders the style is actually available to. After blacklisting, the Sim is immediately given a different whitelisted style so they are not left wearing the one you just banned.
Color Matching
With Match Hair Color on (the default), facial hair is always colored to match the Sim's head hair. There are no dye options because an independently chosen beard color would be overwritten whenever the Sim's hair changes.
Spawn Control
When enabled, NPCs that spawn with non-whitelisted facial hair are switched to a whitelisted style. With color matching on, NPCs whose beard color does not match their hair are corrected in place while keeping their style. Spawn control never gives facial hair to a clean-shaven Sim and never shaves one. It only swaps one style for another, and only on Sims with no home lot.
Requirements
- The Sims 4 (base game only)
Installation
- Download and unzip
deadlystingnyc_facial_hair_control_vX.X.zip - Drop the unzipped folder into your Mods folder:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods/ - In-game, go to Game Options → Other and make sure Script Mods are enabled
- Click any Sim and choose Facial Hair Control → Build Facial Hair Config to finish setup
Config File
The mod creates two files inside its own folder alongside the .ts4script and .package :
deadlystingnyc_facial_hair_control.cfg - your settings, whitelist, and
blacklist. Settings can also be changed from the Settings submenu in game, which is easier and takes effect immediately. Format:
SPAWN_CONTROL=1 ← 1 = enabled, 0 = disabled
ALLOW_CC=0 ← 1 = enabled, 0 = disabled
MATCH_HAIR_COLOR=1 ← 1 = enabled, 0 = disabled
PIE_MENU=NORMAL ← NORMAL or SHIFT
WF,0x000000000004c9c1 ← whitelisted for females
WM,0x000000000004c9c2 ← whitelisted for males
W,0x000000000004c9c3 ← whitelisted for both
B,0x000000000004c9c4 ← blacklisted (all genders)
BM,0x000000000004c9c5 ← blacklisted for males only
BF,0x000000000004c9c6 ← blacklisted for females only
PIE_MENU=SHIFT moves the interactions to the shift-click menu, which requires
testingcheats true. Takes effect the next time a lot loads. After editing the
cfg by hand, run dsn_fh_reload to pick up changes without restarting.
The style list below the settings is written by Build Facial Hair Config and the blacklist interactions. It is recommended to use the pie menu interactions to manage it. The entries are raw CAS part IDs, so editing these lines by hand is not practical.
deadlystingnyc_facial_hair_control_catalog.dat - auto-generated cache. Do
not edit. Safe to delete; it rebuilds automatically.
Troubleshooting
Open the cheat console with Ctrl+Shift+C, enter testingcheats true, then use:
| Command | What It Does |
|---|---|
dsn_build_facial_hair_list |
Rescan your catalog and rebuild the whitelist (preserves blacklists) |
dsn_fh_reload |
Clear the in-memory cache so the config is re-read |
dsn_fh_log |
Write a diagnostic snapshot to the Mods folder and print it |
dsn_fh_scan |
Write a report of every CAS tag found on facial hair parts |
Menu options missing? Make sure you've run Build Facial Hair Config first. Nothing else works until the catalog has been built.
Whitelist seems incomplete? Run dsn_build_facial_hair_list with Sims of
each age and gender present on the lot, then reload with dsn_fh_reload.
Having an issue? Leave a comment below with your setup and I'll help troubleshoot.
Compatibility with Hair Control
If you also use Hair Control, the two work together. Hair Control recolors facial hair to match if it changes a Sim's genetic haircolor; this mod does the same, so they agree. Dyeing a Sim's hair with Hair Control will leave eyebrow and facial hair color alone.
🌐 This mod is English only. All menu options and text will display in English regardless of your game's language setting. The mod will still work normally. Only the text is affected. If you'd like to contribute a translation, feel free to reach out in the comments!
About This Mod
One of a growing set of mods I'm making for The Sims 4, ranging from small quality-of-life fixes to more fully featured tools like this one. If Facial Hair Control gives you one less reason to go into CAS, a rating helps other players find it. Thanks for the support!
