Auto Bar Food Ordering
by deadlystingnyc
Your Sim is hungry at a bar. The bartender has a full menu of fries, pretzels, fish and chips, and more. Your Sim reaches for the free chips. EVERY. TIME.
Auto Bar Food Ordering gives them the autonomy to finally order real food on their own.
Why You Need This
In vanilla Sims 4, hungry Sims at bars will only ever help themselves to chips autonomously. Every other item on the bar menu is player-directed only, so the full bar food system goes completely unused unless you direct the ordering yourself. This mod fixes that so Sims actually behave like people at a bar who are hungry.
How It Works
Hungry Sims will autonomously order from the bar's full food menu. Sims with less than 500 Simoleons take the free chips instead. Above that, real food wins and the chip bowl gets left alone.
Bar patrons are a special case. The game spawns them with high hunger that barely moves while they are on the lot, so they are judged on a different scale. In practice patrons will order as the night wears on rather than all at once on arrival.
Bartenders, chefs, hosts, and waitstaff will not order food for themselves while they are working. A bartender has to be tending the bar for anything to be ordered, which is the same rule the game uses for drinks.
Regional menus are supported automatically when you own the relevant packs:
- Selvadorada
- Henford on Bagley (meat pie, bangers and mash, and more)
- Moonwood Mill (cold cuts, steak tartare, and more)
- Tomarang
Sharing a Plate
Most bar food comes out as a platter with several servings, so one order feeds a good part of the room. Sims help themselves to what is already out, which keeps the bar from filling up with plates.
The game also lets a Sim's order join a plate already being prepared, in which case they get what the bartender is making rather than the exact dish they picked. This is a base game mechanic and the mod does not change it.
Payment
Payment is handled entirely by the game. Played Sims are charged for the food they order, exactly as they would be when you direct an order yourself. NPCs are not charged, which is how the game already handles their drinks.

Compatibility
- Does not override
bar_Tendbar, making conflicts with other bar mods unlikely - The food list is read from the bar's normal Order Food menu at game load, not hardcoded. Mods that add food to bars should expand the menu automatically.
- Oga's Cantina on Batuu is intentionally excluded. The base game keeps bar drink ordering autonomy off on Batuu and this mod follows that rule.
About This Mod
One of a growing set of mods I'm making for The Sims 4. If this makes your bars finally feel like places Sims go for a snack, a rating helps other players find it. Thanks for the support!
