Ember Wisps - Allay & Vex

Turns Allay and Vex into cute will-o'-the-wisp fire spirits: translucent orbs with faces, burning animated flame crowns, 5 random colours each and expressive faces. Items and swords float inside the orb.

✨ What is it?

Ember Wisps replaces the Allay and the Vex with brand-new custom models: little will-o'-the-wisp fire spirits. Each one is a translucent glowing orb with a cute face and a living flame crown that actually looks like it is burning.

🔥 Features

• New model – translucent orb, flame crown and tiny flame hands (not just a re-skin).
• Living fire – the flames animate constantly, flickering like real fire. Vex flames burn faster and bigger when they attack.
• 5 random colour variants per mob (Optifine-style random entities)
  • Allay (blues): Celeste · Sapphire · Turquoise · Glacier · Midnight
  • Vex (grey → yellow): Ash · Silver · Ochre · Amber · Yellow
• Expressive faces
  • Allay: cute eyes, random blinking, ^ ^ smile when it picks up or delivers an item, pain eyes when hurt
  • Vex: cute-but-angry eyes, blinking, pain eyes when hurt and a furious face (red/yellow eyes, open mouth) while charging
• Held items float inside the orb – the Allay's item and the Vex's sword are shrunk and hover in the middle of the orb (the sword slowly spins; faster when attacking).
• Left-handed mobs supported – items stay inside the orb for left-handed spawns too.
• Xaero's Minimap friendly – the minimap icon shows only the face (no little arms).
• No particles, no extra mods – everything is done by the model and textures.

📦 Requirements

• Minecraft Java 26.3
• Fabric + Entity Model Features (EMF) + Entity Texture Features (ETF)
• OptiFine also works (CEM + random entities).

🛠 Installation

1. Install EMF and ETF.
2. Drop the .zip into .minecraft/resourcepacks (or use the in-game pack screen).
3. Enable Ember Wisps - Allay & Vex. Done!

❓ FAQ

The item/sword looks outside the orb. Make sure EMF is up to date. Test with /summon vex ~ ~1 ~ {LeftHanded:1b,equipment:{mainhand:{id:"iron_sword"}}} and report a screenshot. Do I need animation mods? No. The fire animation is built into the model. Can I use it in a modpack? See the licence below.
