Every enchantment should feel like magic—not like the same purple book with a different name.
Better Enchanted Books rebuilds Minecraft's entire enchanted-book collection as a set of 43 distinct, animated designs. Every enchantment receives its own visual language, motion, timing, particles, and story while preserving Minecraft's crisp pixel-art identity.
There are no palette-swapped copies and no shared “one effect fits all” animation. Sharpness cuts across the cover, Mending pulls broken fragments back together, Loyalty throws and recalls a trident, Frost Walker grows ice beneath the book, and every remaining enchantment is treated with the same care.

Animation built around meaning
- 43 enchantment-specific designs mapped directly from the stored enchantment
- 80 original frames per book at two ticks per frame
- 8-second seamless loops with readable anticipation, action, impact, and recovery
- Distinct effects for striking, shielding, freezing, repairing, returning, piercing, weaving, charging, dashing, and more
- Six rune-reveal patterns and varied physical motion instead of one recycled particle orbit
- A dedicated animated fallback for unusual or multi-enchantment books

One complete collection
Every official enchantment available throughout stable Minecraft Java 26.x is included, from everyday essentials to treasure enchantments and curses. All normal enchantment levels resolve to their correct design automatically.

The pack uses 32×32 source art for richer detail while keeping hard pixel edges, restrained palettes, and a consistent book silhouette. It is designed to feel like a natural expansion of Minecraft—not an unrelated UI skin.

Native vanilla integration
Better Enchanted Books uses Minecraft's component item-model system and minecraft:stored_enchantments directly.
- No OptiFine
- No CIT loader
- No Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge dependency
- No shader requirement
- No server installation
It is a fully client-side resource pack. Install it once and Minecraft selects the correct animated book automatically.

.minecraft/resourcepacks.

Performance and visual consistency
The pack changes enchanted-book item models and textures only. Geometry-heavy world models, post-processing, and shader code are not included. Animation timing and texture dimensions are validated during every build, and the release selector is checked against the enchantment registries of all four supported stable clients.
