What's new

Zepholume Shaders V1.0.5

Release File: Zepholume-Shaders-1.0.5.zip

Zepholume Shaders V1.0.5 introduces important lighting corrections, shader configuration improvements, and additional stability and compatibility safeguards.

This update focuses on addressing lighting inconsistencies reported in previous versions while preserving Zepholume's lightweight rendering approach.

✨ Highlights

  • Reworked lightmap handling to address incorrect environmental brightness.
  • Corrected lighting calculations affecting daylight, shadows, and darker environments.
  • Improved colour-processing logic to better preserve low-light detail.
  • Updated shader profile declarations and configuration options.
  • Fixed shader-option tooltip definitions for improved Iris compatibility.
  • Expanded automated shader validation and portability testing.

🌅 Lighting & Visual Improvements

  • Lightmap corrections: Repaired lightmap sampling and routing in affected rendering paths to address excessively bright environments.
  • Skylight fixes: Removed duplicate skylight multiplication and corrected daylight-facing attenuation.
  • Better low-light handling: Preserved low-light colour values instead of applying unnecessary highlight compression.
  • Highlight processing: Restricted highlight compression to values above the normal colour range, reducing unintended changes to darker colours.
  • Lighting consistency: Refined calculations intended to improve transitions between bright outdoor environments and darker locations.

These changes target previously reported full-bright lighting, excessive contrast, and loss of detail in dark areas.

🎨 Shader Profiles & Settings

Maintained the five intended quality profiles:

  • Potato — Minimal visual overhead.
  • Low — Lightweight graphics for lower-end hardware.
  • Balanced — Recommended default profile.
  • High — Enhanced visual quality.
  • Ultra — Maximum available visual quality.

Additional changes:

  • Reviewed profile declarations, including the previously reported missing Potato preset.
  • Preserved Balanced as the default configuration.
  • Corrected shader-option tooltip keys to follow the documented Iris configuration format.
  • Added regression coverage to help prevent tooltip-definition errors from returning.

🛠 Bug Fixes & Stability

  • Fixed identified lightmap-routing defects.
  • Removed redundant skylight calculations in affected paths.
  • Corrected shader-side handling of low-light and highlight values.
  • Improved shader settings metadata consistency.
  • Strengthened automated checks for shader configuration and compilation.
  • Preserved the established lightweight GLSL rendering architecture.

⚙️ Compatibility & Validation

V1.0.5 includes expanded automated validation across shader configurations and rendering paths.

Phase 10 validation results:

  • 272 GLSL stages validated.
  • 420 shader links checked.
  • 630 portability test cases passed.
  • Added regression testing for shader-option tooltip definitions.
  • Prepared separate Iris and Oculus environments for further runtime qualification.

The update continues to target suitable Iris and Oculus shader environments. Automated validation does not guarantee successful rendering across every Minecraft version, shader loader, or GPU.

⚠️ Known Limitations

  • In-game visual testing has not yet confirmed that all brightness and contrast issues are resolved.
  • Potato preset visibility in the actual shader-options menu remains unverified.
  • Runtime compatibility across Minecraft versions and Iris/Oculus configurations still requires testing.
  • FPS improvements and GPU performance gains have not been established through controlled benchmarks.

📦 Installation

  1. Download Zepholume-Shaders-1.0.5.zip.

  2. Place the ZIP directly inside your Minecraft instance's shaderpacks folder.

  3. Select Zepholume Shaders in the shader selection menu.

  4. Start with the Balanced profile and adjust settings for your hardware.

Do not extract the ZIP.

Zepholume Shaders V1.0.5 is a lighting-correction and maintenance-focused update that improves the shader's implementation and automated validation while retaining its performance-conscious design.
