Zepholume Shaders V1.0.1
What's new
Zepholume Shaders V1.0.1
File: Zepholume-Shaders-1.0.1.zip
A major visual refinement and optimization update focused on making Zepholume more atmospheric, consistent, stable, and efficient without turning the shader pack into a GPU furnace. 🔥
✨ Visual Improvements
- Reworked sun elevation and twilight transitions for smoother lighting throughout the day.
- Improved sky and horizon rendering with more natural atmospheric coloration.
- Refined sun and moon glow for a cleaner, less artificial appearance.
- Improved sunrise and sunset tones with restrained warmth instead of excessive orange tinting.
- Better integration between sky, terrain, clouds, and fog.
- Improved rainy-weather desaturation and atmospheric response.
- Refined Overworld fog for better depth and scene readability.
- Improved Nether and End atmosphere while preserving dimension identity.
- Improved cloud coloration and environmental blending.
🌊 Water Improvements
- Added subtle real-time animated water movement on supported quality profiles.
- Water animation now responds to frame time instead of relying on static pseudo-movement.
- Kept the effect deliberately lightweight to preserve Zepholume's performance-focused design.
⚡ Performance & Optimization
- Reduced unnecessary shader work across several rendering paths.
- Potato mode now compiles out additional analytical sky and cloud calculations.
- Maintained genuine compile-time differences between quality profiles instead of merely changing cosmetic values.
- Removed a redundant display-linear decoding operation.
- Preserved Zepholume's lightweight architecture:
- No shadow maps
- No SSR
- No SSAO
- No volumetric lighting
- No temporal buffers
- No compute shaders
- No expensive post-processing pipeline
🛡️ Stability & Compatibility
- Added safer vector normalization to prevent potential NaN rendering errors caused by malformed or unusual geometry.
- Improved handling of modded and unusual rendering inputs.
- Continued portability work for NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs.
- Improved common-denominator compatibility between Iris and Oculus.
- Preserved vanilla texture detail, transparency, entities, particles, hand rendering, and modded-content visibility.
🔧 Internal Improvements
- Unified several lighting and atmosphere calculations for more consistent rendering.
- Cleaned up redundant shader operations.
- Strengthened profile-specific compilation behaviour.
- Improved shader validation and defensive rendering logic.
📌 Requirements
Zepholume Shaders requires a compatible shader loader such as Iris Shaders or Oculus.
Minecraft Java 1.20+ versions are the currently tested target. Older Minecraft versions may work, but compatibility is not guaranteed.
Zepholume Shaders V1.0.1 is primarily about refinement: better atmosphere, smoother environmental transitions, improved stability, and smarter performance without abandoning the lightweight philosophy of V1.0.0.
