Zepholume Shaders V1.0.0
What's new
Zepholume Shaders V1.0.0
File: Zepholume-Shaders-1.0.0.zip
Zepholume Shaders V1.0.0 is the first full release of Zepholume Shaders — built around a simple goal: make Minecraft look substantially better without turning the GPU into a space heater. 🔥
✨ Highlights
- First stable 1.0.0 release of Zepholume Shaders.
- Reworked lighting and atmospheric presentation for a richer Minecraft world.
- Improved overall colour balance, contrast and scene depth.
- Cleaner skies, fog and environmental transitions.
- More polished water and terrain presentation.
- Better visual consistency across different biomes, weather conditions and times of day.
- Improved shader stability and compatibility.
🎨 New Quality Profiles
Zepholume now provides multiple presets for different hardware and visual targets:
- Potato — prioritises maximum FPS and compatibility.
- Low — lightweight visuals for weaker hardware.
- Balanced — the recommended compromise between visuals and performance.
- High — stronger visual effects and atmosphere for capable GPUs.
- Ultra — the highest-quality Zepholume experience.
This allows Zepholume to scale from modest integrated graphics to significantly more powerful gaming hardware instead of pretending one preset fits everything.
🌅 Visual Improvements
- Improved sunlight and environmental lighting.
- Refined day/night appearance.
- Better atmospheric depth and distance presentation.
- Improved fog integration.
- Cleaner sky rendering.
- Improved cloud presentation and separation from the sky pipeline.
- Better terrain lighting and colour response.
- Reduced overly flat or washed-out scenes.
- More natural-looking transitions between bright and dark environments.
- Improved visual balance without abandoning Minecraft's original identity.
⚡ Performance & Optimisation
Performance remains one of Zepholume's primary design goals.
- Reduced unnecessary fragment-stage work.
- Optimised frequently executed shader paths.
- Kept the rendering pipeline deliberately lightweight.
- Avoided expensive effects where their visual benefit did not justify their GPU cost.
- Improved frame-time consistency.
- Reduced unnecessary shader complexity.
- Added quality scaling so expensive work can be avoided on lower presets.
- Continued using a lean rendering foundation rather than stacking heavyweight effects simply to inflate a feature list.
🛠 Stability & Compatibility
- Improved compatibility with Iris Shaders.
- Improved compatibility with Oculus.
- Strengthened GLSL portability across NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics hardware.
- Fixed shader compilation and loading problems found during development.
- Improved include handling and shader-source consistency.
- Added safeguards against duplicate definitions and problematic shader declarations.
- Improved portability across supported Minecraft 1.20+ environments.
- Performed broader shader validation and compatibility testing.
🐛 Fixes
- Fixed previous shader-pack loading failures.
- Fixed duplicate shader definitions affecting compilation.
- Fixed problems in the sky rendering pipeline.
- Improved sky/cloud separation.
- Removed incorrect double application of vertex-colour lighting in affected paths.
- Improved fog behaviour and integration.
- Fixed several visual inconsistencies between shader stages.
- Cleaned up shader code that could behave differently across GPU vendors.
- Improved packaging structure so the shader pack loads correctly when installed as a ZIP.
📦 Installation
Install:
Zepholume-Shaders-1.0.0.zip
Place the ZIP directly inside your Minecraft:
shaderpacks
folder and select Zepholume Shaders from the shader-pack menu.
Compatible shader loaders include Iris and Oculus on supported Minecraft Java versions.
Zepholume Shaders V1.0.0 marks the transition from an experimental lightweight shader project into a proper release — with scalable presets, stronger visuals, broader GPU compatibility and performance kept at the centre of the design.
