The idea behind Undiscovered was to create an expert level, tiered progression modpack that explores the underused, the unappreciated, and criminally neglected side of mods. I wanted to create a pack that encouraged more exploration of what mods have to offer rather than slowing players down with excess grind or relying on a ton of micro-quests for content. With over 500 recipe adjustments, 150 quests, modified world gen, and custom items, Undiscovered is sure to offer a unique experience.
Undiscovered is a progression based pack. This means that the mods are intertwined with each other, and not simply a gate to the next mod. Magic and tech trees are separate journeys until they combine to unlock the end game mods such as RFTools Dimensions and Draconic Evolution. The pack also highlights some less common features of other wise popular mods such as vodka brewing with Binnie’s, the alloy kiln from Immersive Engineering, and the crushing table & sluice box from Magneticraft.
Progression isn’t strictly linear in some case, meaning players have more than one way to complete the next step. Will you explore to find your first furnace or farm iron trees with the Rustic mod? Will you process tungsten by breaking it down with less efficient bee DNA or harder to obtain aerotheum? Will you gather ores by upgrading a Silent’s Gem pickaxe, setting up a laser ore generator with Actually Additions, or farming the Deep Dark with an RFTools builder?
Undiscovered presents a world that's interesting to explore, even though exploration isn't strictly forced. The world type defaults to lost cities with heavily modified settings that make cities much more rare, utilize an expanded pallet of building materials, and contain custom additions such as trash piles, evil rooms, and astral sorcery viewing platforms. You'll also find random structures from the ruins mods like small huts, mining shafts, and ships in the ocean. Almost all the loot tables have been customized to make treasure chests worth looting and traps more deadly.
Ore generation has also been adjusted to contain ores not normally present, like iridium and osmatic-steel (along with more boring adjustments like making sure players don’t see the same ore type from multiple mods). Player’s will also find redstone to be a scarce resource in the overworld, but abundant in other dimensions.
Not everyone enjoys the stress of battling mobs. For players who want a more relaxed experience there is an additional set of recipes that can be turned on for mob drops. Simply run the command /packmode peaceful and restart the game to unlock recipes for mob drops not normally obtainable in peaceful mode. (The can be reverted with the command /packmode normal).
