Modern Lightweight Magitech
A NeoForge 1.21.1 modpack built around one idea: Create and Ars Nouveau shouldn't be two separate games running side by side. Every stage of progression is designed so tech and magic depend on each other — there's no pure-automation path and no pure-spellcasting path. Want a spell turret? You're pressing wire and stamping brass first. Want precision mechanisms? You're pulling parts through an Ars imbuement chamber. The two systems are wired directly into each other's recipe trees, on purpose, throughout.
Hexerei, Immersive Engineering, and Applied Energistics 2 aren't bolted-on side content either — witchcraft brews and brooms, multiblock power generation, and ME storage are all load-bearing parts of the same progression line, not optional detours.
What makes this pack different
Every recipe is placed on purpose. This isn't a kitchen-sink pack where mods happen to coexist — each crafting chain was designed to route through the other system's mid-tier output, so progression has one coherent throughline instead of parallel, disconnected tech and magic tracks. If a recipe change ties Ars Nouveau to a Create material, or gates a Create machine behind a magic ritual, it's because the dependency graph was drawn that way from the start, not patched in after the fact.
Performance-conscious by default. Sodium, Iris, Lithium, and Distant Horizons are included and pre-configured — this is a "lightweight" pack in the literal sense, tuned to run well without demanding a monster rig.
Actively maintained. When a bug in a bundled mod broke world-join stability or shader compatibility, we didn't wait for an upstream fix — we forked it, fixed it, and shipped the fix (see the Immersive Portals compatibility fork also published from this project).
Current status: work in progress
This project is under active development. Right now:
- The Andesite Age — the opening tier of progression — is feature-complete: full mechanism/machine walkthrough, alloy kiln, precision mechanisms, the Ars Nouveau spellbook line, and the first Brass Age content.
- The Copper Age, Zinc Age, Brass Age, and Arcane Age exist as chapter shells with some progression recipes already implemented, but aren't playable end-to-end yet.
Expect more chapters, more Hexerei/Twilight Forest integration, and an eventual endgame in future updates. If you want a completely finished experience today, this isn't it — but it will be soon!
