LOTM: Veiled Horizons
Beyond the lantern light, the world grows stranger. Discover potion formulas, choose a Pathway and learn to wield supernatural powers while distant mountains and monumental sanctuaries stretch across the horizon.
What you will play
- LOTM leads the adventure. Gather ingredients, brew potions, complete acting and ritual objectives, wield Pathway abilities and explore the organizations and landmarks of Beyond the Veil.
- Distant landscapes, familiar blocks. Distant Horizons extends the visible terrain; Iris and Complementary Reimagined add light, atmosphere and water while retaining a recognizably Minecraft look.
- A focused companion set. Sodium, Lithium, FerriteCore, Entity Culling and ImmediatelyFast support rendering and simulation. JEI, Jade and AppleSkin provide recipes, contextual information and readable food values.
- The creator's own tools. Includes Enchantment Overdrive, Real Invisibility, Slash Enchant, Slash Protection, Slash Chest Shop and Slash Grief Control alongside LOTM. Operator commands retain their permission requirements.
- A connected economy. New player chest shops use LOTM pennies. LOTM brokers retain their own penny/soli system; convert coins through crafting when needed.
Start your journey
Read LOTM's tutorial book, explore for ingredients and formulas, then brew your first potion. Open the journal with R. Use Left Alt to switch to the ability hotbar, 1–9 to activate bound powers, and [ / ] to change ability pages. Controls can be rebound in Minecraft.
This pack pins LOTM 0.89.1-combat-hotfix.1: all 22 Pathways have Sequence 9–5 kits, and 21 Pathways have playable Sequence 4 progression. Twilight Giant Sequence 4 and Sequences 3–1 are not included as playable progression in this release. It is a developing fan adaptation, not a claim that the novel's entire power system is finished.
Installation and visual settings
- Minecraft Java 26.3 · NeoForge 26.3.0.101 · Java 25. Import as a separate profile.
- Suggested starting allocation: 6–8 GB RAM, leaving memory for Windows and other applications. This is a starting recommendation, not a measured minimum or an FPS guarantee.
- Starts at 12 render chunks, 6 simulation chunks, 128 DH LOD chunks, with the shader's Medium settings. Lower shader quality or disable shaders if your GPU struggles.
- LODs build gradually. Distant Horizons has two background workers at a reduced duty cycle and uses Minecraft's own chunk generation for better structure compatibility. The first view will not immediately contain a fully generated horizon.
- LOTM landmarks prepare gradually and can be expensive. Use /lotm landmarks to check progress, and allow preparation to finish before visiting unfinished sites.
- Use a new world for this pack. Keep backups of worlds you care about.
Release and validation
Pack version 1.0.0, published on the Release channel. The included LOTM mod remains a Beta. Referenced archives were downloaded, checked, and inspected for dependencies. The dedicated-server subset started, loaded its data and saved an isolated world. The client, shader rendering, custom ability visuals, connected multiplayer and long-session balance have not been playtested for this pack. Pack metadata fallback warnings from three utility mods are recorded in the validation report.
