"Un prédateur est un organisme qui met à mort des proies pour s'en nourrir … Les relations entre proie et prédateur déterminent le fonctionnement et l'organisation des pyramides alimentaires, avec, à leur sommet des prédateurs dits « absolus », ceux qui ne sont pas eux-mêmes la proie d'autres prédateurs."
What exactly is HunterZ?
HunterZ is a modded Minecraft series created in 2013 by a French video creator, GussDx, who introduced a whole new type of survival mode: Hardcore mode with zombies.
Initially, the game was played solo, but multiplayer mode was played later on, offering a more role-playing-focused (and also more fun) experience.
A few months after its initial release, a modded Minecraft server, Desticraft, decided to join the adventure to offer players this same experience, so that everyone could enjoy it in their own way and their own story!
Seasons came and went, featuring spin-offs and original stories created not only by the lead creator but also by the fans!
Until the day the servers shut down, and this game mode was gradually forgotten. But not by everyone!
Let's now talk about the main focus, the content and features.
• The main focus: Naturally, you'll need to survive and seek shelter against the zombies who took over the world. See it like that; the more you survive, the more your journey is a success.
But keep in mind that one death will mark the end of your adventure, you are playing Hardcore mode.
• The content & features: If you're lucky enough, you will stumble across cities which will help you grab weapons and very useful resources. Be careful though, it may not be very peaceful out there.
There's new types of zombies, added by various mods:
• First, there is Wandering Zombies—an original mod I did, which adds player-like zombies who will sometimes run quite fast. Sometimes slower, though! They'll play various curious sounds and growls too.
• Next, there's Zombietech Reborn, which is a very old mod (you understand why the 'Reborn' now) that adds fat zombies, crawlers, and more. I banned some of them because they weren't very fair-play and unrelated to the series, but the good content is there.
• And finally, there is Mutant Beasts which I probably don't need to introduce. I just gotta say, don't keep yourself close those monstrosities! They also weren't used in the very first season, but I thought it was cool including them anyway just like it did in the next seasons. Really adds a threat too, right?
• There's gameplay mods such as MovePlus to be able to make dashes in all 4 directions.
• There is Flan's Mod with the right content pack to add weapons to the game, all in 2D like it used to be.
• Small tips: you can type /sit and /sleep in chat to do those poses.
... And so I can talk about more of them obviously, but it'll be ruining your discovery, doesn't it?
โโ Important note: Please allow 6 to 8GB of RAM if possible, just in case you do not encounter problems.
Additionally, please set your render distance to less than 10, it may be not very far, but helps with the hostile spawn rate for your gameplay.
๐ซ๐ท Détails et notes du créateur / ๐ฌ๐ง Details and notes from the creator :
๐ฌ๐ง I wondered how I could recreate the original modpack from the series as faithfully as possible—and make it accessible to everyone. So I thought of Curseforge, that vast content distribution network, and decided to re-create any mods I might be missing—even if it was just a few items or mobs. So that’s what I did. I’m well aware that not everything is perfect, but version 1.12.2 prevents me from finding 100% of the mods used back then, and above all, I sometimes had to improvise.
But I think it feels pretty good—I hope you'll feel the same way!
So here's a recreation that's as faithful as possible (surely!) to the original HunterZ modpack, conceived and created by GussDx in 2013.
All my inspiration goes from GussDx (and video makers he used to play with of course), make sure to check his work out, or subscribe to his respective YouTube channels if you want to know more about him and what he does now. (Even though you'll enjoy that more if you're french I guess!)

Legal terms of use and how it differs from the original:
This project is a community-made reimagining of the HunterZ concept originally created by GussDx. The original content and series can be found on GussDxGaming's YouTube channel.
This is not a redistribution or perfect recreation of the original HunterZ modpack. It is a new interpretation with a substantially different mod selection, gameplay, progression and implementation. The original series was played on Minecraft 1.4.7, while this project was designed for Minecraft 1.12.2.
Most of the custom mods and resourcepacks included here were independently recreated from scratch. While some take inspiration from older HunterZ-related content, their code, mechanics and implementation were independently developed for this project. For example, Lost Cities was not part of the original modpack, and Wandering Zombies is my own implementation of the zombie mechanics used in this project.
Important point to notice: Most of the custom mods and resourcepacks in this project have been independently recreated from scratch. Some may intentionally reproduce the visual appearance or general concept of mechanics from very old HunterZ-related mods, but their underlying mechanics, behavior and implementation have been redesigned and written independently for this project.
The exceptions are the following:
jkush321's Flash Light, a direct recreation of an old 1.4.x/1.5.x mod originally created by jkush321. No public license or redistribution terms could be located for this 13-year-old project. The original author is credited and the original project is linked. I will comply with any reasonable removal or modification request from the original author.
Flan's Mod (Modern Warfare Content Pack) originally created by FlansGames and edited/adapted by myself. The original creator are credited on my project's page.
ZombieTech Reborn [HunterZ Edition]—my recompiled and modified version of Baushawat's mod fork, created with their permission and credited accordingly.
Simple Headlamp independently recreated from the concept of the Headlamp item from nerdboy64's old Adventure Kit mod. The original creator is credited on the project's page, and the included black Headlamp texture has been completely edited for this project.
