Zombie Village 5.0.3 — release notes

Fixed

  • Your Soul Well's fuel bank can no longer be siphoned by other players. The well's fuel keeper (which keeps furnaces, smokers, blast furnaces and brewing stands near your well topped up from the well's stored fuel) now serves only stations placed by you or your friends. Anyone else placing a furnace in your well's radius gets a clear warning at placement, and the well simply won't fuel it. Un-friending someone stops service to their stations within seconds — re-friending resumes it with no re-setup. Everything already built keeps working exactly as before.
  • A hopper trick that let others smelt for free on YOUR fuel is closed. A non-friend hopper feeding items through (or pulling output from) one of your fueled stations pauses that station's refill until the hopper is removed.
  • Villager professions no longer get permanently stuck with no trades. If trade generation ever fails (for example during a datapack reload), the villager retries on the next interaction instead of caching the empty result for the life of the world.
  • Biome-gated trades now work for players running the vanilla trade_rebalance datapack. ZV villagers now expose the villager-variant that those trades check (anchored to your village's biome), so professions like the Armorer gain their full trade ladder instead of losing entire tiers.
  • Removing a Soul Well with /setblock or /fill no longer locks that player out of placing a well forever. Stale well records self-heal on the next placement attempt — including in worlds already affected.
  • Founding a well next to someone else's pre-placed Soul Interface now pops that interface (it drops as an item), closing an ordering loophole that let it become a permanent unauthorized tap on the new well's storage.
  • Boot-time log spam "skipped recipe minecraft:tipped_arrow" is gone — dynamic-result recipes (tipped arrows, fireworks, shulker dyeing) are correctly excluded from the salvage index.

Under the hood

  • Test suite grew 147 → 166 GameTests (second-actor removal coverage, trade generation for all 13 professions x 5 tiers, and the new fuel-keeper ownership suite).

Requires / compatible with

  • Minecraft 26.1.2
  • NeoForge 26.1+ (built and tested on 26.1.2.99)
  • Freedom Lib 1.0.0+ (26.1 build)
  • ZV-Houses 1.0.4+ (26.1 build)
  • Spells & Spellcrafting 2.12.74+ (26.1 build)

Migration notes

  • Drop-in replacement for 5.0.2 — no world changes required. Fuel stations that existed before this update are grandfathered and keep working untouched (server ops: the well logs a one-time INFO listing pre-update fuel enrollments so you can spot anything you don't recognize).
  • 26.1 worlds only: worlds from the 1.21.1 line can NOT be loaded on this build. Keep running 4.57.x for existing 1.21.1 worlds — this release does not replace that file.
