ZERQIUM — Changelog
v1.0.0 — Initial Public Release
Fabric · Minecraft 1.21.1 · Java 21
First public release of ZERQIUM — a client-side performance, diagnostics, and adaptive optimization mod built around the principle measure → prove → optimize.
✨ Features
- ZQ Pulse — Real-time frame-time profiler: average FPS, median frametime, P95/P99/P99.9, 1% low, 0.1% low, and stutter detection.
- ZQ Doctor — Bottleneck diagnosis engine (CPU / GPU / GC pressure), with confidence-rated results and honest
INCONCLUSIVEoutput when the cause can't be determined reliably. - ZQ Adaptive — Dynamic render-distance/quality controller with ownership tracking, so it never overrides manual player changes.
- Static Render Cache (initial) — Conservative render caching for stable block entities (chests, shulker boxes and similar candidates), using a strict
UNSEEN → OBSERVING → CAPTURED → VALIDATING → READYstate machine with automatic fallback toDYNAMICon any change. - JVM / Memory Monitor — Heap usage, GC count and duration tracking. Never triggers manual garbage collection.
- Frame Budget Scheduler — Splits internal ZERQIUM work across frames using operation and time budgets to avoid spikes.
- Module Registry — Maturity-tagged module system (STABLE / BETA / EXPERIMENTAL / UNSAFE).
- Failure Circuit — Basic circuit-breaker that suspends a misbehaving optimization and falls back to vanilla rendering.
- Boot Guard — Detects abnormal previous shutdowns and disables experimental modules on next launch if needed.
- Environment Snapshot & Hardware Detection — One-time startup scan (CPU, RAM, GPU, display, installed mods) converted into cheap runtime capability flags.
- HUD — Compact and advanced overlays showing FPS, 1%/0.1% lows, P99, memory, and active module status.
- Config GUI &
/zqcommand suite — Full in-game configuration screen plus client-only commands for status, hardware, pulse, doctor, diagnostics, memory, adaptive, and dev inspection. - GPU Timer scaffold — Non-blocking, async GPU timing query groundwork (diagnostic use).
🔒 Design guarantees
- 100% client-side — no server-side installation required.
- Zero telemetry, zero network activity by default.
- No account, login, or cloud dependency.
- No forced
System.gc()calls. - Zero permanent background workers when idle.
- No cheat functionality of any kind (no X-ray, reach, combat automation, ESP, etc).
🛠️ Known limitations in this release
- GPU Compute, Residency, and LoadShift are not implemented — reserved for future versions.
- Static Render Cache coverage is intentionally limited to a small set of conservative candidates; signs, banners, bells, lecterns, and campfires are not yet supported.
- Only two mixins ship in this build (
MinecraftFrameMixin,BlockEntityRenderDispatcherMixin) — broader render-path optimizations (e.g. Section Mesh Backend) are architectural only, not active code. - NeoForge and Forge builds are not yet available (Fabric only).
- Compatibility with other rendering mods (e.g. Sodium) has not been exhaustively verified — please report any conflicts.
📝 Notes
This is an early-access-style first release: the measurement and diagnostics core (Pulse, Doctor, Adaptive) is the most mature part of the mod, while rendering-side optimizations are intentionally conservative to minimize risk of visual bugs or crashes. Feedback on stability — especially around the Static Render Cache and mod compatibility — is the most valuable thing testers can report right now.
