Waybound Grimoire - Magic Teleportation & Fast Travel

Teleport like a mage, not like a command.
Bind Anchors, open your Grimoire, channel the spell and step through the ley lines,
with your pets and your friends.

Beta: the mod is complete and tested, but it is new. Please report anything odd in the comments or on the issue tracker.

• ✨ Real spells — every trip is channelled: rune circles, ley ribbons, an arrival column, a red shatter when it breaks.
• 🗿 Anchors — your own fast-travel points. Name them, keep them private, share with friends or go public.
• 📖 Grimoire or Waystaff — a 3D book or staff in 4 tiers that you can see grow (corner caps, gold bands, jewels), any wood as the cover, gems, sigils and trims.
• 🔨 Durability — every cast wears the Grimoire a little. It never breaks: repair it with amethyst shards in a crafting grid. Unbreaking and Mending work on it.
• 🐺 Pets come along — tamed pets, your mount and leashed mobs, modded ones too.
• 🤝 Travel with friends — visit or summon players, friends skip the prompt, group trips with Fellowship.
• 💎 Runestones — Warding, Restoration, Resonance, Beacon and Rift, plus Runic Sockets for more slots.
• 🛡️ 9 enchantments — Swift Casting, Frugal, Aegis (a hex shield while you cast), Fellowship, Echo and more.
• 📜 Lore — 20 Lost Pages to collect, 12 advancements and rare sigils.

Costs XP, has a cast time and a short recharge. You stand still while you channel (your boat or horse too);
no casting while gliding, swimming or riding as a passenger. Getting hit breaks the spell, unless you are warded by Aegis.

Old anchors of the ley still stand around the world:
almost every village has one, in a lantern-lit plaza or a small roofed shrine built in the village's own style,
about half of the pillager outposts keep one in a cage or an open shrine,
and rare ones rest on carved stone in Nether fortresses, bastions and End cities.
They belong to no one: anyone can attune and travel there. One per village, never a crowd.

• 🗺️ Waystones — your waystones appear in the Grimoire and the anchor network. Villages (modded ones too) get an anchor instead of a village waystone; switch it with worldgen.villageWaystones.
• 🧭 JourneyMap & Xaero's Minimap / World Map — anchors become waypoints.
• 🔭 Distant Horizons — Beacon anchors stay visible as light columns far away.
• 🔍 Jade, JEI, REI, EMI — tooltips and recipes.
• 🎒 Curios, Accessories, Trinkets — cast from a belt slot; a worn Waystaff shows on your back.
• 🏰 Open Parties and Claims, FTB Chunks & Teams — parties count as friends, claims are respected.
• 🔮 Iron's Spells, Ars Nouveau — pay with mana instead of XP.
• 🐎 Leash All, SWEM — more companions can come along.
• 🌈 Iris / Oculus shader packs — effects switch to a shader-safe mode.

• ⚖️ One balance knob: balance.preset = casual, balanced, challenging, hardcore or custom.
• 🔧 Every number is in config/waybound-common.json, with a short explanation above each setting, and synced to players so tooltips always match the server.
• 🧱 Server-authoritative, packets validated, nothing ticks while nobody is casting.
• 🌍 Structure anchors, loot and trades can each be tuned or turned off.
• 🔨 Durability (casts per tier, repair, Mending rate) and the gliding / swimming / passenger rules are all switches in the config.
• 🔑 Permission nodes for casting and player travel (LuckPerms-friendly).
• 🧩 For add-on authors: add your own waypoints to the Grimoire and react to casts, teleports and misfires. See the API guide.

Is Waybound Grimoire a Waystones alternative?
It can be, but it also works with Waystones: the Grimoire lists your waystones next to your anchors.

Does it need to be on the server?
Yes, Waybound Grimoire must be installed on both the client and the server.

Can I use it in my modpack?
Yes, modpacks are welcome (public, private or paid). Videos and streams too.

Can I make an add-on for it?
Yes! Use the public API (eu.adoman.waybound.api, MIT licensed, see the API guide), its events, data packs or config, and publish your add-on as its own mod. The rest of the mod is All Rights Reserved: please don't re-upload it, publish modified copies or copy its code and art. Want something else? Ask at adoman.eu/contact.

Which versions?
Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge, Fabric) and 1.20.1 (Forge, Fabric). Integrations work on both versions (Iron's Spells / Ars Nouveau mana only on NeoForge 1.21.1).
