Wandering Home Door
Quickstart
Craft a Portable Home Door, then place it on solid ground with a clear area around and above it. The first deployment builds a small spruce home with a bed, chest, crafting table, and furnace. It also gives the owner a Home Key linked to that home.
Right-click the door to teleport into the home. Use the linked Home Key to teleport back to it. Sneak-right-click the door to pack the entire home into an item; place that door elsewhere to deploy it again. Leave room for the house to expand as you upgrade it.
Overview
The Portable Home Door is the entrance and anchor for a home you can carry between locations. It keeps the home’s rooms, stored items, and other contents when packed. The home belongs to the player who first places it.
The door cannot be mined normally. Sneak-right-click it to pack the home safely instead.
What It Adds
- Portable Home Door: Creates and stores your deployable home.
- Home Key: Teleports you to its linked home; the owner can also use it to lock or unlock the home and grant another player access.
- Five upgrade tiers: Expand the home and add useful stations, storage, and features.
How To Use
Travel and packing
- Enter or return home: Right-click the door, or use a linked Home Key.
- Pack the home: Sneak-right-click the door. The owner or a trusted player can do this. The packed door goes into your inventory, or drops nearby if your inventory is full.
- Deploy it: Place the packed door in a new location. If there isn’t enough clear space, make room and right-click the door to try deploying again. You can sneak-right-click it to pack it back up.
- Use a key on the door: The owner can right-click the door while holding a Home Key to bind that key and toggle the lock.
Packing moves players inside the house outside first. The packed home preserves its blocks and block contents, along with entities inside it.
Locking and trust
When the home is locked, only its owner can enter. The owner can unlock it using a Home Key on the door or with /home lock nearby.
To trust another player, stand by the home as its owner and either:
- Hold a Home Key and right-click the player, or
- Use
/home trust <player>.
The player must be online for the command. They receive a Home Key. Trusted players can use private storage and pack the home; locking it still restricts entry to the owner.
A spare Home Key can be crafted with <button class="mx-1 inline-flex h-7 items-center gap-1 border border-border bg-muted/50 px-1.5 align-middle text-muted-foreground transition hover:border-foreground/30 hover:bg-muted hover:text-foreground focus:outline-none focus:ring-2 focus:ring-ring focus:ring-offset-1" type="button" aria-label="View full recipe for Portable Home Door" aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-_r_17s_" data-state="closed"></button>. Use it on your home’s door to link it.

Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Portable Home Door using the recipe above. A Home Key is also craftable, though placing a new door gives its owner a linked key automatically. Use crafted spare keys on the door to link them.
Abilities And Mechanics
The home starts at Tier 1 and can be upgraded through /home upgrade. Upgrades require enough clear space for the larger structure and consume no crafting materials. The owner can upgrade while nearby.
| Tier | Name | Main features |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Camper | Bed, chest, crafting table, and furnace. |
| 2 | Homestead | Adds several workstations, including a blast furnace, smoker, anvil, stonecutter, and smithing table. |
| 3 | Workshop | Adds an enchanting table and bookshelves, brewing stand, loom, cartography table, and other workstations. |
| 4 | Manor | Adds a fenced wheat plot, livestock, and substantial barrel storage. Mature wheat is harvested automatically about every 10 seconds, with drops stored in the home when possible. |
| 5 | Mobile Fortress | Adds an upper floor with a second bed and storage, plus stations and blocks such as an ender chest, redstone lamps, and obsidian. |
Progression And Strategy
Place the door where there is solid ground beneath it and ample room for the house to grow. The Tier 1 home occupies roughly a 9-by-9 area; the largest tier reaches about 25 by 25 and adds an upper floor. Clear space around the home before upgrading.
Use the built-in chests and barrels to organize supplies, then search them through the vault when you need a particular item. Pack the home before a long journey, and deploy it somewhere with enough room for your current tier.
