Voltex:Nuclear

Voltex:Nuclear is an add-on for Voltex that takes uranium all the way to fusion. You dig uranium ore, enrich it in a centrifuge cascade, lay out a fission reactor cell by cell, reprocess its spent fuel, gather heavy water and finally light a fusion torus. Everything runs on Voltex machines, ports, heat and FE, and the Information Panel gets its own chapter, so you can follow the branch in game.

Requires Voltex (3.0.4 or newer). JEI, Jade, Applied Energistics 2 and KubeJS are optional.

Uranium. Uranium ore lies deep and is rare, but one vein lasts a long time. The Geiger counter clicks faster the closer you get. The Voltex crusher and blast furnace turn the ore into yellowcake.

Centrifuge Cascade. A row of 2 to 12 centrifuges. Four columns enrich uranium for the first reactor, ten make high enriched fuel, and every column over that runs it faster. Feed its depleted uranium back in, and with no yellowcake left the cascade re-enriches the tails.

Fission Reactor. The output depends on your layout. Fuel rods (low enriched, high enriched or MOX, single, dual or quad), graphite and heavy water moderators, beryllium reflectors, control rods, heat vents, exchangers, water and cryo cells all go into a 5×5 zone, and four expansion chambers open it to 7×7. Heat goes to the outlets next to each rod, the rest into the hull, and an overheated hull scrams the reactor. Thirteen ready schemes in JEI go from the first reactor to a heavy water peak, and one click lays a scheme into the reactor.

Irradiation. Put a blank in place of a rod and the reactor irradiates it. Lithium becomes tritium for the torus, an isotope blank becomes the pellet that powers the Stellar suit, and four other blanks become isotopes: catalysts for the Voltex Restructor, which turn common things into rare ones at a steep price.

Spent Fuel. The Voltex Phase Splitter takes spent rods apart. The Radiochemical Plant, a hot cell behind thick glass, gets low enriched uranium, plutonium, depleted uranium and palladium out of them. Plutonium and depleted uranium sinter into MOX fuel.

Heavy Water. A column of 4 to 8 tiers, hot below and cold above, gathers heavy water from plain water. The Electrolyzer fills deuterium cells from it, and heavy water also works as a moderator in the reactor.

Fusion Torus. A ring of eight coils that burns deuterium and tritium for 260M FE a tick. Ignition takes a billion FE, and after that the plasma holds while there is fuel and superfluid condensate for the coils. The burnt fuel comes out as helium.

Star Forge and the Stellar Suit. The forge runs on the heat of the torus or the reactor, not on energy, and melts star alloy from kronium alloy, palladium and helium. Star alloy goes into the Stellar suit, a third suit over Voltex's Plasma: it turns damage away, heals you slowly, ignores fire and lava, flies faster and stops dead when you let go. An isotope pellet inside keeps it charged for an hour.

Built into Voltex. The reactor gives core samples that breed a Watcher nanite, which learns the reactor and holds the power down before the hull overheats. Heat ports feed the Voltex heat network. The advancements sit in the Voltex tab, and Jade shows the state of every machine. With AE2, the Voltex ME ports feed and empty every multiblock of the add-on.

For pack makers. KubeJS (6 on 1.20.1, 7 on 1.21.1) and a Java API add your own fuel rods, heat sinks, cooling cells and irradiation blanks to the reactor.
