What's new
Void Relic 1.0.7
Changed
- Essence is now counted in points instead of tenths: one millibucket is one point of void value. Nothing costs more or less than before, but a tank holds ten times the value it used to, and it lifts a ceiling that could not be raised any other way: essence is counted in a 32-bit number, so a block can never hold more than about two billion millibuckets. The Essence Tank now holds 5,000,000 and the Void Heart 2,000,000,000, which is that limit.
- Autocrafting expensive things through the Essence Nexus is no longer out of reach. A stack of netherite blocks cost two thirds of a full Void Heart and now costs under two percent of one.
Fixed
- Machines no longer refuse a job that costs more than their own tank holds. The Void Duplicator and the Essence Enchanter demanded the whole price up front, which put every valuable item out of reach, and the Ore Multipliers and the Essence Assembler asked for a per-tick share that was itself larger than the tank. All four now take whatever the tank can give: the buffer sets the speed, the supply sets the rest, and essence already paid is banked and given back if the job is abandoned.
- Machines take essence from a tank, a Void Heart or anything else set against them, so storage next to a machine works with no plumbing. They cannot drain another machine's input.
- Pipes can no longer bury items in the pattern slots of the Essence Assembler and the Void Duplicator. Those slots are set by hand and are closed to automation.
- Roomier default buffers for the Void Duplicator and the Void Pulverizer.
- The Essence Nexus now says on the item and in its screen that only a storage network belongs on it: anything else pushed in is sold.
Updating
Delete config/voidrelic-common.toml after updating, and let it be written again. A file from an earlier version keeps the old exchange rate while taking the new defaults for the settings that were renamed, which leaves the economy part old and part new. The server warns about this on startup. Essence already stored in a world keeps its millibuckets and is therefore worth ten times the value it was: a one-off gain for anyone already playing.
