Description
Villager Workforce
Villager Workforce transforms vanilla villagers into a persistent workforce that can operate specialized production sites for your village, colony or multiplayer server.
Assign villagers to workstations using the Worker Ledger, provide them with food, tools and emerald wages, and let them produce resources over time.
Workers remain normal Minecraft villagers and physically interact with their workplaces while the production simulation remains server-authoritative and multiplayer-safe.
Features
Worker Management
Select an adult villager with the Worker Ledger and assign it to a compatible workstation.
Workers require:
- Food
- Tools
- Emerald wages
- Available output space
Workers gain Mining or Logging experience as they work.
Metal Mining Site
Produces selectable mining resources including:
- Coal
- Raw Copper
- Raw Iron
- Raw Gold
- Redstone
- Diamond
Valuable resources take longer and may require additional emerald costs.
Wood Mining Site
Produces selectable vanilla log types and requires axes.
Stone Mining Site
Produces stone, cobblestone, granite, diorite, andesite and deepslate resources.
Quartz Mining Site
Produces Nether Quartz and only operates in the Nether.
Workstation GUI
Each workstation provides dedicated slots for:
- Food
- Primary tool
- Backup tool
- Emerald wages
- Production output
The GUI also displays the assigned worker, skill level, food level, saturation, production target and current status.
Survival Progression
All current Villager Workforce items and workstations can be crafted normally in Survival.
A dedicated Villager Workforce Creative tab is also included for testing and building.
Multiplayer
Villager Workforce is designed with multiplayer servers in mind.
Important production, inventory, wage and worker operations are server-authoritative.
Install the mod on both the server and clients.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Minecraft Forge 47.4.10 or compatible 47.x build
- Java 17
No additional gameplay dependencies are required.
JEI is optional and standard crafting recipes are compatible with JEI.
Current Notes
Workers currently operate day and night.
Production is abstract: workers do not physically destroy terrain, ores or trees.
Offline production while workstation chunks are unloaded is not currently enabled.
HOW TO USE!
Craft a Worker Ledger, then shift-right-click a villager to select them.
Right-click a Villager Workforce workstation with the Ledger to assign that villager.
Open the workstation with an empty hand to manage it. Add:
- Food
- Tools
- Emeralds for wages
Then choose the resource you want the worker to produce and let them work automatically.
Workers gain Mining or Logging skill over time, which improves their efficiency.
Feedback
Villager Workforce is still under active development. Bug reports, balance feedback and feature suggestions are welcome.
