VECTOR ITEMS 1.1.2
Fixed: the Forge 1.20.1 build crashed on startup
Three people reported this — HEROIC_KAI, Akihito_Midas and MizukoTheSuccubus — all on Forge 1.20.1, all with no other mods, and all noting the crash report said nothing useful. It was right about that: the failure happens before anything interesting reaches the log.
The cause was one line. The Forge build is generated from the Fabric source by a porting tool
that rewrites every Registry.register call into Forge's deferred-registration ledger. Five of
the six calls went through helper methods, so the rule caught them. The sixth — the scan goggles
— was written out directly, matched no rule, and was copied across untranslated. Forge 1.20.1
will not let you register into a vanilla registry from a static initialiser, so the moment that
class loaded it threw Can not register to a locked registry and took the whole game down.
Reproduced on Forge 47.2.0 and 47.4.10 in a clean profile with no other mods, fixed, and both verified running.
The porting tool now fails the build if a single Registry.register survives translation. It
was only counting how many times each rule matched, so a line that matched nothing passed
through in silence. That is the part worth fixing, not just the line.
Fixed: the servo arm showed raw translation keys
Its status line printed things like vectoritems.servo_arm.status.idle instead of words. The
strings were being requested but never defined — eighteen of them, covering the arm's status,
its duties, the camera modes and the tool cycle. All eighteen are now written in English and
Japanese.
The hologram map projector reaches much higher
It sampled 20 blocks above the projector and stopped. If you have towers, they were simply outside the window — the map showed ground and nothing else. It now reaches 100 blocks up and 48 down.
Raising the ceiling alone would have made the problem worse in a different way: the relief is normalised across whatever height range it finds, so one tall building would flatten the streets to almost nothing. The island now gets taller as the range grows, so a city with towers reads as a city with towers rather than a plate with one spike.
