🦃 Turkey Time!
Bring a Little Gobble to Your Overworld!
Wild turkeys, realistic behaviors, delicious meals, and a touch of Thanksgiving spirit—all in one lightweight Vanilla+ Minecraft mod!
Ever feel like Minecraft's forests and plains could use a little more wildlife? Turkey Time! introduces wild turkeys to the Overworld, complete with unique appearances, natural behaviors, breeding, and new food options.
Whether you're building a countryside farm, exploring the wilderness, or preparing a Thanksgiving dinner with friends, Turkey Time! adds a little more life to your world.
And the best part? Turkeys are here to stay, all year long!
🌲 Meet the Turkeys!
Discover wild turkeys roaming Minecraft's forests and plains in small, naturally spawning flocks.
These aren't just chickens with different textures. Turkeys feature:
- Three unique appearances: Male turkeys (toms), females (hens), and adorable baby turkeys (poults).
- Custom animations: Watch toms proudly spread their tail feathers and strut.
- Natural flock behavior: Turkeys forage together, while poults follow nearby adults.
- Unique sounds: Hear custom gobbles and calls as turkeys explore their surroundings.
- Instinctive reactions: Sprinting players and nearby threats can send an entire flock scattering!
Approach slowly, or you might send your Thanksgiving dinner running into the woods!
🥚 Raise Your Own Flock
Bring wild turkeys home and start your own turkey farm!
- Tempt and breed turkeys using wheat, pumpkin, melon, or beetroot seeds.
- Raise poults and watch them grow into adults.
- Collect turkey eggs periodically laid by adult hens.
- Hatch your own turkeys: Throwing a turkey egg has a 1-in-8 chance of spawning a poult.
- Automate your hatchery: Dispensers can throw turkey eggs, just like vanilla chicken eggs!
From a small backyard pen to a sprawling turkey ranch, the choice is yours.
🍗 From Farm to Table
Turkeys aren't just for decoration—they're also a new source of food!
Hunting adult turkeys provides raw turkey and vanilla feathers. Cook your turkey using a furnace, smoker, or campfire.
Cooked Turkey
Enjoy a hearty meal with two different ways to eat:
- Eat it directly: Restores 8 hunger points (4 drumsticks).
- Serve it to others: Place cooked turkey on a sturdy surface to create a shareable meal containing 8 servings, each restoring 2 hunger points (1 drumstick).
Perfect for survival adventures, multiplayer gatherings, and rustic kitchen builds!
🍽️ Thanksgiving Feast
Gather your friends and celebrate with a proper holiday dinner!
Craft a Thanksgiving Feast, a decorative, placeable meal featuring a cooked turkey and delicious sides.
Each feast provides 8 servings, and the food visibly disappears as players help themselves.
Crafting Recipe
Arrange the following ingredients in a crafting table:
| Bread | Cooked Turkey | Carrot |
|---|---|---|
| Wooden Slab | Wooden Slab | Wooden Slab |
| Empty | Empty | Empty |
Recipe Notes:
- Any wooden slab type can be used.
- Mixing different wooden slab types works too!
- The bottom row must remain empty.
Whether it's Thanksgiving or just another day in your survival world, there's always room for a feast!
🍂 Seasonal Autumn Turkeys
During November, you might encounter something a little different!
Newly spawned wild turkeys have a small chance to appear with special copper-toned autumn plumage, adding a seasonal touch to the Overworld.
Fully Configurable
Server owners can customize:
- Seasonal event start and end dates.
- Timezone used for seasonal events.
- Chance of seasonal plumage appearing.
- Whether seasonal appearances are enabled at all.
Important: Seasonal features are purely cosmetic. Normal turkeys, breeding, food, and crafting recipes remain available throughout the entire year.
