Techy Techy Conversion System
Turn anything into Essence, and Essence back into anything you have learned.
Nearly every item in the game has an Essence value, shown right in its tooltip. Feed items into a Conversion Table to learn them and bank their Essence, then make more of any learned item whenever you need it. Grow your Essence with sunlight-powered Collectors, move it with Relays, automate it with Terminals and pipes, and spend it on matter tools, flying armor, rings and building gadgets.
Values are worked out automatically from every recipe in your game, including other mods' recipes and data packs, so new items get a fair price without any setup.
Features
Learning and making
Conversion Table: put an item in to learn it and turn it into Essence. Click any learned item to make one, or shift-click for a stack. Search, sort and pin favourites.
Conversion Tablet: the table in your pocket, with a Crafting tab that buys missing ingredients from your Essence. Works with JEI's "+" button to fill a recipe in one click.
Complete Codex teaches every item at once. A bound Shared Codex teaches a friend everything you know.
Making Essence
Tier Light Collector Essence Relay
I–III Bronze, silver and gold frames Stores Essence and burns items into it
IV–VI Umbral, Ember and Radiant frames, up to 5,184 Essence per second Four times the storage per tier, up to 819.2 million
Solar Condenser I–VI: a half-height collector and relay in one block, making twice its tier's collector output.
Storage Orbs I–VI carry from 50,000 up to 51.2 million Essence for your gadgets, rings and armor.
Essence Wellspring: endless Essence for creative-style worlds. Off by default; turn it on in the server config.
Automation
Essence Terminal I–III: pipe items in and they become your Essence. Pick up to 1, 3 or 9 learned items and the terminal sends them out to your pipes, paid from your Essence.
Replicator and Advanced Replicator copy a target item from items or Essence. The Advanced one is eight times as fast.
Essence Chest holds 96 stacks and keeps rings inside working.
Linked Satchels share one storage by colour, for you or your team.
Tools, armor and gadgets
Umbral and Ember tools never break. Charge widens their reach, and Extra Action mines whole ore veins and more.
Umbral and Ember Furnaces smelt 8 and 16 times as fast.
Umbral, Ember and Radiant armor: Radiant armor can fly, paid in Essence.
Rings fly, burn, freeze, grow crops, pull items in and fire homing arrows. Stones feed, heal or store experience. Amulets place water or lava.
Activation Pedestal runs a ring or stone for free. The Chrono Dial speeds up machines. The Condensing Gem turns what you carry into one chosen item.
Gadgets: Builder's Lens, Blast Lenses, Excavation Charge, Survey Rods, Blast Charges and Warding Torches.

Common questions
Is it balanced? Every machine takes at least an hour of output to pay back its own cost, and recipe loops that would create Essence are tested against before each release.
Can I change an item's value? Yes. Pack makers can set values in a data pack under `data/<namespace>/essence_values/`. Operators can use `/conversion value set`, `remove`, `reset` and `reload`, and anyone can run `/conversion value get` or `why` to see how a value was worked out.
Does anything carry between worlds? No. Values, knowledge and machine state belong to each world and reset when you switch.
Backpacks? Storage backpacks are a separate mod, Techy Techy Backpacks. Neither mod needs the other.
