Digital Miner — Intelligent Resource Extraction

Why excavate an entire mountain when you only need the valuable resources inside it?

The Digital Miner surveys underground terrain, identifies supported ore deposits, and selectively extracts the resources you choose.

Unlike traditional quarries, it leaves most surrounding terrain untouched.

Features:

• Geological Surveying: Scan a configurable region to discover supported ores before mining.

• Ore Detection: Automatically recognizes vanilla and appropriately tagged modded ores.

• Intelligent Filtering: Include or exclude specific blocks and block tags.

• Survey-Based Selection: Choose which detected ores to extract directly from survey results.

• Configurable Mining Area: Independently adjust X/Z dimensions, horizontal offsets, and vertical mining limits.

• Real Ore Extraction: Removes actual ore blocks instead of generating virtual resources.

• Optional Backfilling: Replace mined ore positions with supplied stone or other supported materials.

• Three Backfill Modes: Optional, Required, or Disabled.

• Modular Construction: Uses separate Basic Scanner, Extraction, and Processing Assemblies.

• FE Compatibility: Operates using compatible external energy sources.

• Safe Chunk Handling: Defers unloaded regions and resumes when they become available.

Compact Quarry — Early-Game Automation

Get started with automated mining before you've built an electrical power network.

The Compact Quarry is a small, self-contained mining machine powered by familiar Minecraft furnace fuels.

Simply provide fuel, configure the excavation area, and let the quarry get to work.

Features:

• Fuel-Powered Operation: Uses supported furnace fuels, including coal, charcoal, coal blocks, and lava buckets.

• No External Power Required: Operates independently of FE networks.

• Frameless Design: A compact, single-block machine.

• Automated Excavation: Physically removes supported terrain blocks.

• Layer-by-Layer Mining: Works downward through the configured excavation area.

• Up to 32 Vertical Layers: Suitable for smaller excavation projects.

• Internal Storage: Collects recovered materials for later retrieval.

• Fuel Management: Tracks available fuel and operating progress.

• Safe Pausing: Stops when fuel or storage capacity prevents further work.

• Chunk-Safe Operation: Does not force-load chunks and resumes eligible work when available.

The Compact Quarry is designed for early Survival progression, temporary mining sites, and smaller resource-gathering operations.

Industrial Framed Quarry — Large-Scale Excavation

Set your boundaries, supply energy, and watch the quarry's gantry and mining head move across the excavation area.

The quarry frame is a visual structure, so no separate physical frame construction is required.

The Industrial Framed Quarry is intended for players building large factories, underground facilities, and automated resource-processing systems.

Designed for Survival Progression

StrataWorks provides different mining solutions for different stages of gameplay.

All three machines are craftable and usable in Survival.

The Compact Quarry offers accessible early automation, while the Digital Miner and Industrial Quarry provide more specialized capabilities for established industrial operations.

Built With World Safety in Mind

StrataWorks prioritizes reliable automated mining.

Machines operate only in loaded regions, respect supported protection checks, and preserve their state across normal world saves and restarts.

Extracted resources come from actual blocks in the world.

Machines are designed to avoid item duplication, unsafe extraction, and unintended chunk loading.

Important current limitations:

• Mining requires the machine's owner to be online in the same dimension with appropriate permissions.

• Machines never force-load chunks.

• Some blocks with unusual or unsupported behavior are intentionally skipped.

• Electrical machines require an external FE source.

• The Compact Quarry has a 32-layer excavation limit.

• The Industrial Quarry's frame and mining head are visual, non-colliding structures.

• Compatibility with every third-party protection or energy mod is not guaranteed.

Planned Features — Future Updates

StrataWorks is still growing. The following features are planned but are not included in version 1.2.0.

Advanced Digital Miner Upgrades

Future releases will expand the Digital Miner's modular architecture.

Planned components include:

• Advanced and Industrial Processing Assemblies.

• Larger configurable surveying regions.

Progressive Upgrade Slots

Future modules are planned to support limited stacking, diminishing returns, tier-based compatibility, and automatic disabling when installed components cannot support them.

Fortune and Silk Touch

Planned specialized modules include:

• Fortune I.

• Fortune II.

• Fortune III.

• Silk Touch.

Higher Fortune tiers will require progressively better Extraction Assemblies.

Silk Touch will require an Advanced or Industrial Extraction Assembly.

Fortune and Silk Touch will be mutually exclusive.

Experience Collection

A planned XP Collection Module will allow eligible mining experience to be stored rather than discarded.

Future functionality is intended to include:

• XP storage scaling with Processing Assembly tier.

• Direct XP withdrawal through the GUI.

• Experience bottle production.

• Configurable behavior when XP storage fills.

• Options to pause extraction or discard excess XP.

Modular Quarry Complex — Late-Game Industrial Mining

The next major evolution of StrataWorks will introduce a modular quarry system for advanced industrial operations.

Planned capabilities include:

StrataWorks also plans to expand manual mining.

• Selectable mining areas.

• 1×1, 3×3, and potentially 5×5 mining modes.

• Faster block breaking.

• Replaceable tool components.

• Specialized mining enhancements.

These tools will provide a progression path for players who prefer hands-on mining alongside automated machinery.

Works Alongside Flux Foundry

StrataWorks and Flux Foundry are designed to complement one another.

Use StrataWorks to extract resources, then transport, process, and manufacture them using Flux Foundry or another compatible technology mod.

Flux Foundry is not required to use StrataWorks.

The Future of Industrial Mining

StrataWorks is being developed as a complete mining ecosystem, with each release expanding what players can accomplish.

Start with a fuel-powered Compact Quarry, progress to precise geological extraction with the Digital Miner, and scale up to the Industrial Framed Quarry.

Future updates will introduce increasingly sophisticated mining machinery, modular industrial systems, and advanced personal mining equipment.
