Stow 1.0.6+mc26.3
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Stow 1.0.6 for Minecraft 26.3
Stow 1.0.6 fixes the Claim area camera and makes selecting an area easier. You now pick the footprint first, then set the height with the scroll wheel, and a new controls panel shows what each key does. F1 hides the HUD while you select. A new What's new screen also shows the highlights after each Stow update.
Companion: Claim area still needs Stow Companion 1.0.5 or later on the server, or installed locally in single-player. The claim request, its limits and the companion protocol are unchanged in 1.0.6, so there's no new companion requirement. Everything else in this release is client-only.
Fixes
Claim area camera moves the way you look
- The Claim area → Fly and select corners camera moved in the wrong direction: W drifted sideways or upward, A/D were swapped, and moving the mouse left or right didn't turn the view.
- The camera now uses one rotation for looking, aiming and moving. W/S fly toward or away from where you're looking, including up and down. A/D strafe left and right, Space/Shift move straight up and down, and Ctrl still speeds you up.
- The camera now follows your own key bindings for movement, jump, sneak and sprint instead of fixed W/A/S/D/Space/Shift/Ctrl.
- Your character still stays in place. Range and loaded-chunk limits haven't changed.
F1 works during selection
- F1, or whatever key you've bound to Hide GUI, now hides the HUD while the selection camera is active, including the hint panel and crosshair. Before, the camera swallowed the key. Selection outlines stay visible.
- The scroll wheel no longer changes your hotbar slot during selection.
New
Two-step area selection
This replaces the old controls (left-click only, right-click to reset, no height control).
Step 1 · Footprint
- Aim at a block up to 32 blocks away. Left-click sets corner 1 and right-click sets corner 2.
- If corner 1 is already set, the right-click takes you straight to the height step. If the footprint is too large or out of range, you stay in step 1 and see why. Enter also moves on.
- Click again to redo a corner, or press Backspace to undo the last one.
- The block you're aiming at, both corners (mint and blue) and a flat footprint outline with its width × length are drawn live.
Step 2 · Height
- The scroll wheel or Up/Down (or Page Up/Down) moves the top of the box. Alt + wheel or arrows moves the bottom, and Ctrl steps by five.
- The height starts at the span of the two blocks you clicked, or at your previous height if the corners didn't change. It stays within the world height and 64 blocks of your character.
- Left-click or Enter confirms and returns to the review screen. Backspace goes back to the footprint and keeps your corners.
- Right-click does nothing in this step, so a quick double right-click can't go back or confirm by accident.
- Escape cancels at any step. A short click plays when a step is accepted and a low note when it's rejected.
New controls panel
- The selection hints are now a compact panel in the same style as the command palette. It shows the current step ("1 / 2") and only that step's controls, with icons for left-click, right-click and the scroll wheel.
- A status section shows both corners in their outline colors, the footprint size, height range, Y range and block count. It turns mint when the box is valid. Otherwise it turns salmon and gives the reason, such as a box over 262,144 blocks or out of range.
- Key names follow your current key bindings. The panel sits bottom-left beside the hotbar when there's room, otherwise top-left, and stays clear of the crosshair. It follows your GUI scale and F1 hides it.
What's new screen
- After you update Stow, a scrollable What's new in Stow screen opens once on the title screen, or on the first in-game frame if your launcher skips the title screen. It lists the highlights of each version you haven't seen yet, with short How to use steps.
- Got it (or Escape) closes it. Open full changelog opens the GitHub releases page after the usual link confirmation.
- New installs don't show the screen. If you're upgrading from 1.0.5 or earlier, you only see the current version's notes.
- Settings → Appearance has a Show what's new after updates toggle (on by default) and a What's new in Stow button that reopens all the notes at any time.
Install and update
- Client: Minecraft 26.3, Java 25+, Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3 and Cloth Config 26.3.159+. Mod Menu 21.0.0 is optional. Replace your old Stow JAR. Mouse Wheelie is still incompatible.
- Server: no companion update is needed for 1.0.6. Claim area, storage owner labels, instant trades, fast chest sorting and connected-log harvesting still need Stow Companion on the server (1.0.5 or later for Claim area and labels).
- No settings changes or data migration are needed. New text is translated into English and German.
