What's new

Static Hollow 1.63.3: everything since 1.44.0, in one update. Make a new world for the deep oceans and the Hollow's country; everything else comes to old worlds too.

New

  • Chapter Five, the Static: Relay 6 and the Amalgam; the Starlite Drive-in, the Afterimages and the Last Reel; the Null Static Zone and the Carrier; the Late Show; the Outbreak (the parasite gets into anything with blood in it and turns it, with its pure forms, the biomass and infested bosses, the Ender Dragon included); the Hive, the Hive Hands and the Chorus; and the Deep, a dimension of warm caverns and blood seas under everything.
  • Chapter Six, the Door at the End of the World: the Stalls, the Audience, the Ushers and the Crowd; the Watcher's Vault, the Tuned and the Projectionist; the Other Side and the Viewer, the last boss.
  • Chapter Seven, the First Signal: the Hub after the credits, with a replay portal for every chapter's last fight; ENOUGH; the First Signal; the Remote.
  • Chapter Eight, the Dead Water: oceans 2,000 blocks deep (the Shroud Ray, the Needlemaw, the Static Leviathan); the oil rig; twelve waters, each with its own floor, plants, life, light, sound and music; the Mouth of the Floor; the Black Below and the Undertow; the submarine Orpheus; the harpoon gun, marine flares and air tanks.
  • The Undertow stalks you: its eyes follow you in the dark; it learns how you move, where you surface and whether you carry a light, and keeps what it learns; it eats lost whales that wander into the void when it's hungry (taking them in its jaws and chewing) and only comes for you when it's starving. Its spawn egg makes one that stalks and feeds but never eats you.
  • Orpheus, rebuilt: a cabin you walk around in, with the helm, floodlights, sonar, the Watcher's chart table, bunks, lockers, a workbench, a galley, the battery bank, a repair board and the motor. Up to four aboard.
  • The leviathans are three times the size: the Undertow's new head and six-jawed mouth, the Static Leviathan's fangs and exposed ribs, the Mouth of the Floor's tongues and twelve eyes.
  • The Watcher's chart of the Dead Water, and compasses to the Forsaken Altar, the Murder Mansion and the Botanic Gardens.
  • Each water has its own light and glowing plankton; cleverer fish that feed, school, hide, panic and get curious.
  • The Hollow's own country: the Hollow Moor, the Blightwood, the Weeping Fen, the Antler Woods and the Signal Flats.
  • The cold and the thirst: a warmth dial, a thirst bar, the canteen (settings in config/statichollow-vitals.properties). Fits itself to Serene Seasons if it's installed.
  • Gear for every chapter: seven armour sets, fourteen weapons and twenty-eight tools, each with its own power; the gloves remade; every creature head can be worn.
  • Attack animations for every weapon and tool, hit flashes and sparks in the weapon's colour, and a sound for every blow.
  • The mod's own music in place of Minecraft's, following the story: twelve lullabies for places, a theme for every chapter and a score for every boss.
  • Every sound sounds like where you are: built-in reverb and muffling from the walls and blocks round you, and heavy dull sound under water.
  • Channel Zero (creative only for now), shooting stars and Fallen Stars, and small things that share one block (grave candles, bone piles, rot caps, hanging chains, cairn stones and more).
  • Every new creature has its own model, animations, sounds, HD textures, glow and LabPBR maps.

Bugs squashed

  • Crash under shaders when holding the Relay Core to your ear.
  • Server crash (ConcurrentModificationException) when sent home from the Void or the Null Static Zone.
  • No cutscene ever played in the modpack (Entity Culling stopped them).
  • Boss bars stuck on screen; Specimen Zero's doubled bar.
  • The Chorus could never be driven off and healed to full mid-fight.
  • After the Hub, an invisible cutscene stayed on screen and held your mouse, hotbar and inventory.
  • Coming into the End shut inside end stone; the Door going down inside rock; the Door never coming with a Last Voice from elsewhere; landing under the map after the Hub.
  • Armour not following your pose with animation mods; held lights blinking dark between steps.
  • Missing-texture checkers on the chapter armours' lights under shaders; the Seen and Infested effects had no icons.
  • Every door on the oil rig left a hole in the wall (old rigs mend themselves).
  • /locate's teleport put you under the ground or a hundred blocks up.
  • Puddles waving and showing through blocks under Photon; the submarine's dome a milky box under shaders.
  • 45 sounds that crackled at their loudest; two sounds with damaged timing; the giant flytrap's snap never played; the Crowd's music overlapping its own end.
  • Bunker B's walls staying torn open; the Warden visible asleep before the Front was lifted; see-through ground at the Pilgrim Stones.
  • The Great Flower couldn't be infested; the turned poisoned themselves in their own spore clouds; the elder guardian's spores never reached anyone.
  • Unnamed things in death messages (the Carrier's knots, the relay's tethers, the drive-in's screen, the hush seals).
  • Slow start-up and stutter: HD item textures capped at 512 px. The modpack asks for 8 GB of memory.
