Description
Sound Subtitle Colors is a small client-side Fabric mod for players who rely on Minecraft's built-in sound subtitles (Options → Accessibility Settings → Closed Captions).
Vanilla shows every subtitle in the same white text. This mod colors each line by sound category (hostile, neutral, player, blocks, weather, ambient, voice) using a colorblind-safe palette, so you know whether that noise was a creeper or a cow before you finish reading. Footsteps from a hostile mob and footsteps from an animal get different colors.
- Works with the vanilla subtitle HUD; no new overlay
- Colorblind-safe palette based on Okabe–Ito (the weather blue is brightened for readability on the dark subtitle background, and stays distinguishable from the other 6 colors under protanopia and deuteranopia simulation)
- No config needed; remove the mod to go back to vanilla
- Client-side only. Safe on any server
- Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API for Minecraft 1.21.11
