Description
Something is wrong with your world, and it is getting worse.
A slow descent into psychological horror, about 75 hours long, built new from nothing.
Read this before you play. In singleplayer, when the story ends, the mod can permanently delete the world you played in, once an in-game warning has shown and you have passed two confirmation screens. Switch it off with the server config option
finale.deleteWorld; servers delete nothing. Expect real message boxes and notifications from your system, short lines put on the clipboard, a new title on the game window, a freeze of a few seconds, and a chance the game closes out to the desktop once saving finishes. All of that can be disabled in the client config. Your files and your personal data are never read.
What this is
Nothing comes to attack you. There is no sanity meter or boss bar, and no monster charges the screen.
For the opening hours, you could not prove a thing had happened. One torch sits a block left of where you placed it. The music is slightly flat. You felt pretty sure the door had been shut. It might be a bug, or a slip in memory.
Then you cannot deny it anymore.
Something around you has been watching. It knows the spot you like to stand, when you head to bed, the name you gave the dog, the words you left on that sign, and what you did last time something failed. It learns as it goes. It gets sharper.
At the end, the part is what it asks you for.
The descent
- A long story in phases. It begins quiet and ordinary. It finishes somewhere else entirely. Early phases stick to things a glitch could explain. Later phases stop faking that.
- You are what it uses. Horror here is taken from your world: the builds, the routines, the words, the deaths. Two players get different playthroughs.
- How you react is kept. Always sprint home, and it sees that. Always look behind yourself, and it sees that as well.
- Home is a safe place. Until the safety goes.
- Changes remain. The grass dies. Water turns dark. Tunnels you made do not always end where they did before.
- It comes out of the game. The fake crashes, the system warnings, and the clipboard messages from the original are back.
- The story finishes. There is a real end. On singleplayer, that end can cost you the world (read the warning above).
Presets
The default is that original 75-hour descent. Pick a shorter preset and the same story gets denser:
| Preset | Length | For |
|---|---|---|
ORIGINAL |
75 h | The intended experience |
LONG |
40 h | A long survival world |
MEDIUM |
20 h | A shorter playthrough |
SHORT |
8 h | One long night: streams, testing |
CUSTOM |
1 to 500 h | Anything else |
Only play while you are active counts. Standing AFK leaves the story where it is.
Recommended
- Headphones. The mod is mostly sound, quiet and close, with a position in the world. Some sounds sit lower than laptop speakers can manage.
- A new survival world you care about even a little. Make a home, name pets, write on the signs. Leave more of yourself there, and it has more to work from.
- Stay out of the config and the source until you have played, if surprises still matter to you.
Multiplayer
Dedicated servers and LAN are both fully supported. Descent, and the decay with it, are shared across the world. Most of what a player sees and hears stays private. Your friend can be right beside you and still see nothing. Servers do not delete anything. They are given a different ending, and that ending is permanent.
Settings
Every setting can be changed. Per world, the server config handles the preset, the intensity, the systems that run, the events turned off, and if the finale deletes the world. On the client, the config handles each effect outside the game (clipboard, message boxes, window title, freeze, fake crash), the look, the audio, and accessibility: reduced flashing, reduced motion. The cap on flashing is three times per second.
An operator can check /sfo status for a world's place in the descent.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.251 or newer
- GeckoLib 4.9.3 or newer (for 1.21.1)
Install it for clients and for servers.
If a shader pack is active, the screen colour grade in the mod switches off, and the fog holds the look.
About the remaster
The original Something Feels Off (2025) began as an experiment and grew past what its code could support. It stayed unstable. Servers made it crash. It never reached done. This remaster was put together from nothing. All of what the original promised sits in here, including the 75-hour descent, looping tunnels, biome decay, fake crashes, and the ending, plus a lot more on top. Dedicated servers can run it, and automated full playthroughs tested the whole thing through.
