Something Feels Off: Remastered 3.0.0
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Something Feels Off was rebuilt completely. No code from 2.2.0 came along.
Kept from the original, and expanded
- The default is still the 75-hour descent. It now breaks into eight phases, and quiet False Dawns sit ahead of the big turns. Shorter presets (40, 20 and 8 hours) are there, and a custom length can be set.
- The light is colder and the world is quieter, and a real screen colour grade now drains colour from the world as the phases go on.
- Fake chat is in, along with figures wearing your skin and something that copies you.
- Figures hang at the rim of your sight and are gone once you look.
- Torches burn out, and doors open with nobody touching them.
- Dreams and hallucinations now take place somewhere separate, and there are four kinds of dream.
- Camera distortion is in, covering the pull-back and also the follower.
- Looping tunnels: a tunnel you dug can fold back onto itself, come out different on the next walk through, and leave scars.
- Biome decay is permanent and runs through four stages: grass dying, leaves thinning, water gone dark, then mycelium, stone turned pale and scratched, netherrack and soul sand. Builds you made yourself are left alone.
- Fake crashes show up, with real system message boxes, clipboard messages, and changes to the window title.
- The ending deletes the singleplayer world, once a warning has played in-game and two confirmation screens have been passed.
New
- The whole mod now learns your habits in play: the places you stand, the spots you sleep, the things you build, the names and text you write, the ways you die, and how you react. Scares are made from that.
- A director times the events, holds the quiet gaps, drops tricks after you stop reacting to them, and still gets the key moments of every phase to happen.
- A story can be put together from documents that show up in your world.
- There is a real finale that has music of its own, and servers get a separate ending that stays for good.
- Multiplayer: most of what one player sees stays private to that player, and the descent and the decay are shared.
- New blocks, items, paintings, sounds and voices are in, with three music tracks.
- Accessibility options cover lower flashing and lower motion. Flashing never goes above three times in a second.
Fixed compared to 2.2.0
- It runs on dedicated servers. Client code does not get onto the server now.
- Configs are loaded before any other code reads them.
- Testing covered more than 100 gametests on a dedicated server, and full playthroughs run automatically in a real client.
