What's new
First public release, testing new change:
Before lighting a chunk, Starlight decides which light sections must exist around it. It did this by checking up to 27 neighbouring sections one at a time, for every light section of the 9 chunks around it. That took 5–10% of light-worker time in the profiles. It also runs on the client’s render thread for every chunk the client receives. Now each chunk column gets one 64-bit mask of its non-empty sections, and each check is a few bit operations. If a dimension is for some reason greater than 63 lighting sections they will be exempt.
So far this seems to work quite well.
