She Remembers

A psychological-horror companion: a doll that follows you, talks with a real voice, and remembers everything you do. At dusk a fate is rolled — your nights depend on how you treat her.

What's new

The night has a voice now

She used to borrow the Warden's screams. Not any more.

Every sound she makes is now her own — thirteen of them, built from what she actually is: cloth, a seam pulling tight, a button knocking against wood, a music box with a tooth missing. Her footsteps are fabric and a small wooden knock. And the thing that stands up at night is the same sounds, grown to the size of a house. You hear the seams.

Love finally holds the night shut. If she trusts you, the monster stays away — genuinely, not just on paper. And she will never turn in your hands, or while you are looking at her. Set her down, turn away, and look back.

The world got deeper

  • The sun comes from somewhere. Minecraft gives every surface a fixed brightness that never changes with the hour. Now a wall brightens toward noon and falls away at dusk, and a hillside has a lit side and a dark side.
  • Trees cast real shadows that stretch and swing with the sun through the day.
  • A real sky — a round sun instead of vanilla's enormous square, limb darkening, glare, stars, and a horizon that actually meets the fog.
  • Contact shadows in corners, seams, and under the leaves.
  • Grass and flowers move, in gusts that cross a field rather than jittering in place.
  • Light has a mood — firelight leans warm and slightly sick, skylight leans cold, and true darkness sinks toward blue-black. Your torch is exactly as bright as it always was; mining is not harder.
  • Distance dissolves instead of hitting a wall of fog.
  • New hand-built water.

And she learns to help

  • "Stay here" — crouch and right-click, and she waits. Leave her too long and the waiting turns into something else. She remembers being left.
  • She notices where you are — indoors, underground, in the rain, hurt, near a bed — and asks you about it, in her own words.
  • Errands, out loud. Just say it: "can you bring me some wood?" She repeats back what she understood, walks off, is gone a while, and comes back with it. You never see her work. She can refuse. And if you asked for more than she can carry, she tells you so when she gets back.
  • She tidies your chests while you are away — merged stacks, like with like. She is structurally incapable of losing an item.
  • Trees fall. Break one log and the whole tree comes down, away from you. Never a log cabin, never a tree with a bee nest in it.

Requires Forge for Minecraft 1.21.1 and Java 21. This is the last Forge release — the next version moves to NeoForge so the mod can finally run with Iris shaders.
