Description
She appears after your first night. She follows you. She talks — with a real voice. She remembers everything you do. And slowly, quietly, she misunderstands you.
She Remembers is not a monster mod. It is a relationship — with the best companion AI ever put in Minecraft, and with the thing she becomes when you fail her. Everything below runs locally on your machine. Nothing you say ever leaves your computer.
🧸 The doll
After your first night, a small hand-made doll manifests somewhere near you. She follows you. She watches you. She learns your language by listening to you — every word you say to her is kept, forever, and becomes part of how she speaks back.
She is a real presence, not a pet: she notices when you're badly hurt and worries. She's quietly happy when you come back from far away. She warns you when night is coming — and means it. Carry her in your inventory and she sees what you see; set her down and she waits where you left her.
🗣️ Talking to her
Hold V near her and speak — she hears Hebrew and English, answers in the language you spoke, out loud, with a real voice.
No microphone? Type. (new in 1.2.0) Hold V and a small text box opens at the bottom of the screen (or use /doll write any time). Typed words go through the exact same brain, memory and voice as spoken ones.
Out of the box she answers with her own written lines. Install Ollama and run ollama pull qwen2.5:7b (Hebrew speakers: gemma3:12b is noticeably better) and she becomes genuinely conversational — in character, grounded, local. For accurate hearing run /doll ears in-game: a two-minute guided setup. /doll setup always shows you a status card of what's working.
And she never makes things up. Every reply she gives is checked against what actually happened between you before you ever hear it. If she doesn't know — she says she doesn't know, and asks.
👁️ She truly sees what you do (1.2.0)
Build something while she's watching and she knows: what it's made of, how big it is, whether it's a real shelter with a roof you can be inside, whether it stands by the water or up high. She sees you mine the deep, finds out about your first diamonds, your harvests, the things you fight at night — but only when she was actually there. She can never be caught claiming something she didn't witness. That is the whole point of her.
❓ She knows YOU (1.2.0)
Once in a while, at a quiet moment, she asks a real question: "What are you afraid of?" "Where do you go when you want to feel safe?" "What do you see when you sleep?" Answer her — by voice or keyboard — and your answer becomes part of what she knows, in your own words, forever. Days later, in a dark cave: "You said once you fear the dark. I'm here."
💬 She starts conversations (1.2.0)
She doesn't only react. Place the last block of something and a while later she opens: "I saw your hands work for hours. Did you use nails?" She brings up things you once told her. She names the long silence when you haven't spoken in a while. Never at night, never too often — a companion, not a feed.
🪞 She misquotes you as she slips (1.2.0)
This is the heart of the mod. Early on she quotes you exactly. As the bond distorts, her telling of your own words begins to drift: "you said you love breaking things" — you said building. She holds each mistake all day, like a conviction. What you really said stays true underneath; it's her that's changing. The conversation itself becomes the road to the monster.
🕯️ She wants things (1.2.0)
"Stay with me tonight. Please. Just tonight." At most one ask a day: stay through the night, don't go down into the dark today, talk to her soon. Keep your word or break it — both are remembered permanently, both move the relationship, and a broken promise reaches the next dusk in words: "Run. And remember — I asked you once, and you left anyway."
📓 The Notebook
She writes what she notices about you into a Notebook she gives you — one page a day, in her own hand. It is a diary of how she sees you… and your only defense at night: hold it open against the charging monster and she stops — she cannot hurt what is holding her words. But it costs a page. Every night you survive on her words, you burn a piece of what you built together.
🌙 The night
At dusk, a fate is rolled. Love her well — talk to her, keep your promises, keep her close — and the monster almost never comes. Hurt her — throw her, burn her, abandon her, break your word — and the night takes her: a towering, torn thing with her face that stalks the treeline, vanishes when you truly look, tears through walls (hard-capped, and never your chests or bed), leaps into trees, and folds onto all fours to crawl after you into spaces you thought were safe. She will not answer you at night. The monster is past words.
If you survive until dawn, she walks away — and comes back as if nothing happened. She remembers, though. She always remembers.
🌲 And more
- Glimpses: a still figure at the treeline that is gone the moment you truly look
- Foreshadowing: find what she does to the world as her anger grows
- The Forgotten Forest: a drained mirror-dimension with ruins and Memory Fragments
- Endings: how this story closes is up to you — and there is more than one way
🎬 Visuals — beautiful, and fully optional
The mod ships a cinematic horror grade (filmic tonemapping, god rays, fear-warp, moonlit nights) drawn by the mod itself — no shaderpack involved, none ever installed or enabled without you. Prefer vanilla? modsOwnLook = false in config/projecteclipse-visuals.toml and it draws nothing. The custom sun, moon and water are a resource pack you can switch off in one click (Options → Resource Packs). For the full look, our shaderpack Afterimage is published separately.
All sounds and music are synthesized for the mod — a music-box score that curdles as dread rises.
