What's new

The Cinematics Update is here!

ReplayModCinematics 0.2.0 is a major update. It turns the add-on into a full camera toolkit for ReForgedPlay, with smarter follow shots, one-click presets, shot chaining, a shot library and a lot of polish.

Smarter Camera & Entity Follow

  • Smooth follow camera: a new Smoothing setting evens out every twitch and turn of the subject. Better defaults: 8 blocks, 37 keyframes, 500 ms smoothing.
  • Arrow and projectile chase with true arcs: follow arrows, tridents, snowballs, eggs, ender pearls, potions, bottles o' enchanting and llama spit along the real curve the game draws. The shot fits itself to the flight from launch to landing, holds on the landing, and never dives underwater.
  • Follows the way things actually move: View: Back is really behind the subject, whether it's a player, a mob walking backwards, a minecart or an arrow in flight. Subjects stay centred on the focus point you choose.
  • Ender Dragon and big mobs: pick any part of a multipart mob to follow the whole mob. The camera stays clear of huge hitboxes, and the dragon's heading is corrected.
  • Modded mobs: handled safely, with clear messages instead of errors.
  • Long-range picker and Nearby list: pick entities up to 96 blocks away, or cycle through everything near the camera.
  • Short-lived entities: if a subject only exists for part of the shot, the camera holds its first or last position and suggests a Duration that fits.

Shot Building & Chaining

  • Shot Presets: Orbit 360, Reveal Orbit, Dolly In, Dolly Out, Crane Up, Fly-by, Chase Cam, Side Track, Top-Down and Lead Shot.
  • Chain shots: Start: After Last places the next shot right after the last one. Time Keyframes: Auto keeps the world playing in real time across the whole sequence. Start at Last End makes continuous moves seamless.
  • Per-point Hold and Speed, plus eight new easing curves (Sine, Cubic, Quint, Smootherstep).
  • Control-point editing: select, Go To, Set to Camera, Insert, Delete and reorder points.
  • Live in-world preview of the path, points, direction and focus targets. It's never drawn in your rendered video.

Save & Share

  • Shot Library: save, load and delete named shots.
  • Share codes: copy a shot as a code and paste it into any replay.
  • Auto-saved drafts: every replay remembers its working shot when you reopen it.

Polish & Reliability

  • One Ctrl+Z per shot: a placed shot, including its time keyframes, is a single undo step. Undo and Redo are also in the review screen.
  • All-or-nothing placement: if anything goes wrong, nothing half-placed is left behind.
  • Config file (replaymodcinematics-client.toml) for defaults, follow and projectile framing, the picker and preview colours.
  • In-game help: ? buttons on the review and preset screens, and tooltips on every editor button.
  • No accidental shots: F7 and F8 only work inside a replay and never while you're typing.
  • Clearer messages, crash hardening, and screens that fit large GUI scales.
  • Wider support: works with ReForgedPlay 0.3.1 and later 0.3.x releases.
