💀 REALISTIC DEATH 💀
Death in Minecraft, the way it should feel

🩸 You don't just drop and turn red anymore.
The hit lands, your body goes limp and falls — and you watch it all from inside your own head as you roll down the hill. Blood sprays the way you were killed. Your armor cracks. Your corpse stays where it fell… until it rots down to the bones.
🔥 Forge 1.20.1 · 🖥️ Client-side · 🌍 Works on any server · 📦 No dependencies · ⚙️ Fully configurable
⚡ What includes
|
|
| 🦴 A real ragdoll |
Your body falls with real physics: limp limbs, momentum, slopes, stairs, water. No more tipping over sideways. |
| 🎥 Death camera |
First person inside the falling head. Tumble down a mountain and the world spins with you. |
| 🌑 A slow, dark ending |
The screen darkens, the HUD fades away, and "You Died!" only fades in once your body has hit the ground. |
| 🩸 Every death is different |
Sword, axe, arrows, explosions, fire, iron golems, falls, drowning… each one leaves its own wounds, blood and pose. |
| 🛡️ Armor stays on |
Your armor stays on the corpse — bloodied, scorched, cracked or broken. |
| ⚰️ Bodies rot away |
Up to 3 bodies per player. Die again and the oldest rots down to a skeleton that crumbles to dust. |
🎥 The death camera
- 👁️ First person from inside the body's head while it falls — every bounce, every roll, every spin
- 🎬 Slow motion on dramatic deaths: cut down by a sword you fall backwards in slow motion; an iron golem sends you flying in a movie-style slow-mo launch
- 🌑 The screen slowly darkens with a heavy vignette and a red flash at the moment of death; the HUD disappears
- ⏳ The death screen waits until your body comes to rest, gives you 2 more seconds to look at it… then fades in softly
- ⏭️ In a hurry? Press Escape or Jump to skip straight to the death screen
- 🎮 Press F5 to watch your own body from outside
🦴 A real ragdoll
- 🧍 Built from the Minecraft player model, with your skin
- 🌀 Real momentum: fall off a cliff and you keep falling; get hit while sprinting and you tumble forward
- ⛰️ Rolls down slopes and stairs, slides, bounces off hard landings — and never gets stuck inside blocks
- 🦵 Limbs collide with each other and with the body: no arms through the chest, no legs through each other
- 🤕 Loose neck: the head nods and lolls to the side
- 🔊 Heavy thud sounds when the body hits the ground hard
- 🧱 Break the block under a body and it falls — bodies, severed limbs, pools and ash piles never float
🩸 Every death is different
| How you died |
What happens |
| ⚔️ Sword |
A slow, dramatic fall backwards. Clean cuts across the body — 4 different slash patterns — and a fan of blood thrown along the swing |
| 🪓 Axe |
Deep, dark gashes and heavy splatter |
| 🔱 Stab / trident |
A puncture with a jet of blood out of the back — sometimes an exit wound |
| 🏹 Arrows |
The arrows stay stuck in your body, each one with its own wound |
| 🐺 Claws & bites (wolves, spiders, phantoms…) |
Raking claw marks |
| 🗿 Heavy hitters (iron golem, ravager, warden, piglin brute, hoglin…) |
Launched through the air, bruised, blood from the mouth |
| 💥 Explosion / creeper |
Thrown away from the blast, half-charred, soot, cuts… and limbs can be torn off and fly away |
| 🔥 Fire & lava |
The body keeps burning, chars black, and sometimes crumbles into ash |
| 🧊 Frozen |
Frost on the skin, pale blue |
| 🌊 Drowned |
Pale and bluish |
| 🪦 Fall |
Bruised legs, a splash of blood where you hit |
| 🖤 Wither |
Darkened, withered skin |
Wounds are painted on your own skin, where the hit landed — and no two deaths look the same.
🗡️ Enchantments change the death
- ⚔️ Sharpness, Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Sweeping Edge, Impaling, Power → more cuts, more blood, bigger pools
- 🔥 Fire Aspect / Flame → the body keeps burning, with seared wounds
- 💨 Knockback / Punch → you're thrown much harder — at level 2+ you go flying
💧 Blood that stays
- 🩸 The killing blow throws real drops of blood that fly, fall and stain the ground and walls where they land
- 🎯 The spatter has the shape of the death: a line of streaks from a sword swing, a star of splashes from an axe, a ring around an explosion, a narrow jet from a stab
- 💓 Deep wounds and stumps spurt with the last heartbeats
- 🔴 A pool of blood slowly spreads under bodies with open wounds — and dries darker over time
- 🚫 Only where it makes sense: bruises, frost or fire don't leave pools
🌊 Water
- 💦 A splash that matches how hard the body hits the water
- 🫧 It floats face down for a moment while the lungs still hold air… then bubbles escape and it slowly sinks
- 🛏️ It comes to rest on the bottom and turns pale and bluish, like a drowned body
- 🩸 Underwater, blood clouds in the water instead of staining
🛡️ Armor on the corpse
- 🪖 Helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots stay on the body — dyed leather and enchantment glint included
- 🩸 Bloodied when you bled
- 🔥 Scorched after fire or an explosion
- 💔 Broken when it was nearly worn out or the death was violent: cracks, holes and a missing sleeve
🪢 Hanging
If you die hanging — from a noose, a hook, chains or upside down by the ankles — the body stays hanging there, swaying and slowly turning on the rope, limbs dangling, the head fallen to one side. Break the ceiling block and it drops.
⚰️ Bodies rot away
- 3️⃣ 3 bodies per player at most (configurable)
- 🪦 Die a 4th time and the oldest body rots: the flesh goes grey-green and fades away…
- 💀 …leaving its skeleton lying in the same pose, still wearing its armor…
- 🌫️ …until the bones crumble to dust
- ⏱️ Every body rots away the same way when its time is up
🤝 Compatibility
- 🩸 Hollow Dweller: when the Dweller devours you, there is one body, not two — the ragdoll takes the shape of its corpse (headless or missing an arm). Die in one of its nooses, hooks or chains and you stay hanging. Arms and legs it already took are missing from your body. Its kinds of death (devoured, hanged, bled out) each get their own wounds.
- ⚰️ Corpse and grave mods: if another mod leaves a body or grave for you, you never get two bodies. Decorative bodies are replaced by the ragdoll; bodies that hold your items stay usable — the ragdoll fades into them once you've watched your fall.
- ☠️ Other death mods: their damage types are recognised by name (devoured, mauled, bitten, hanged, strangled, bled out…), so most of them get a fitting body without any extra setup.
- 🧩 Modded armor that uses the standard armor textures shows up on the corpse too.

❓ FAQ
Does the server need it?
No. It's client-side only: install it on your game and it works on any server, vanilla or modded. Clients without it can join servers that have it.
Do other players see my ragdoll?
Players who have the mod see everyone's ragdolls (otherPlayers). Players without it see the normal vanilla death.
Does it change gameplay or drops?
No. Items, experience and respawning work exactly like vanilla — it only changes what death looks like.
Performance?
Bodies go to sleep when they stop moving and blood drops are capped, so even a pile of bodies is cheap.
Can I use it in my modpack?
Yes, go ahead! 💀
