Real Time Chemistry 2 [RTC2]

Unleash your inner chemist with Real Time Chemistry 2!

Real Time Chemistry offers an expansive and immersive experience for players who are eager to dive into the captivating world of chemistry within their favorite game environment. RTC introduces a wide variety of chemical reactions, synthesis processes, fascinating compounds, and weaponry, providing players with countless opportunities to experiment and explore.

While the mod aims to entertain and educate, it is important to note that the chemical processes and compounds presented in the mod are simplified and fictionalized, and not intended to represent accurate or complete real-world chemistry. This creative adaptation of chemistry concepts allows players to enjoy an engaging and unique experience without being completely overwhelmed by the complexities of real-life chemistry, all while retaining complexity via real-world problems.

Even after your obtaining of the above, a good few still have upgrades to work towards

Those italicized may only be obtained through Niberian Exploration and may never be seen by the average player!

And if you think it'll be easy…

And these are just like... a few recipes out of millions or however many are in the mod! Haha.

Brute force your way to enlightenment

With the armors as shown:

Jetpack, Hazmat Suit, Power Armor, and Power Armor Mk2.

For movement, protection from the environment (or eventually, from everything!), these equippables have you covered... Literally!

As for what you'd need it for?

The Jetpack features an autopilot mode, in which you may input a set of two coordinates in the x,z plane, and the jetpack should fly you there, provided you are in an environment and condition suitable for flight.

RTC'S Radiation mechanics are sure to keep you far away from hazardous materials unless youre properly set up for the work ahead!

There is no easy way out, if you're feeling very nuclear, prepare some Radioguard medicine to help soothe your radiation sickness. Respawning will NOT reset your radiation, but luckily for you, radiation can NOT kill you.

See your current radiation levels with the Geiger Counter

Why make a reactor?

Plenty of endgame weaponry needs the power levels that only fission may produce! Obtain Plutonium and Tritium through Uranium and Litihum nuclear reactions and use the products to exploit your world!

Blow up a nuclear bomb to grief and or to move on to the next frontier!

And maybe even experiment with the nuclear forge, youll get it correct eventually... right?

Or, if you are truly ready to weaponize fission itself...

Climb into the Spidertron

The spidertron is a massive nuclear-powered walking combat vehicle, built for players who have finally reached the point where normal weapons are no longer enough. It does not spawn naturally (who would have guessed), and is intended as a crafted late-game machine for those who want to turn their nuclear industry into something that walks, fights, jumps, aims, burns fuel, and makes the entire world regret standing in front of it.

Powered by Fission Cells, the Spidertron must be fueled to function. Without power, it shuts down completely, disabled movement, turning, jumping, and weapon systems. With power, it becomes a fully ridable mechanical monster, featuring forward movement, strafing, sprinting, turning, charged jumping, and a custom riding HUD for fuel time, ammo, loaded rockets, health, jump charge, and targeting.

The machine walks on eight procedural legs that search for terrain, plant their feet, climb uneven ground, recover after jumps, and keep the body hovering above the land below. These legs are not just visual either, they have their own hitboxes and interact with combat logic, while still being protected from the Spidertron's own rockets and targeting systems.

For combat, the Spidertron carries an undercarriage-mounted minigun with spin-up, ammunition tracking, glowing tracer bullets, target-assisted aiming, and heavy mechanical firing sounds. It also have a four-shot guided rocket system capable of locking onto entities or blocks, launching upwards before steering toward the target, and falling back to ballistic flight when needed. Its custom rockets include glowing rendering, flame trails, pollution smoke, soft additive particles, custom explosion sounds, and large destructive explosion behavior.

If the guns run dry, the Spidertron can still defend itself with a fallback melee stab using its front legs. Ammunition, fuel, and rockets are handled through a dedicated spidertron inventory, with gradual mechanical loading sounds so the whole thing feels like a gigantic machine being fed rather than a normal Minecraft mount.

The Spidertron is heavily armored, has high health, and can slowly self-repair while powered, though serious damage may take several in-game days to recover from. It also includes damage warning voice sounds at major health thresholds, a deconstruct option if you would rather waste fuel and ammo to repair completely, and a violent death sequence. When destroyed the Spidertron breaks apart into exploded legs and body pieces, mimicing the physical destruction of the mech. If it dies with active fuel or Fission Cells inside, it may leave behind radioactive fallout as one final reminder that you probably should not have built a walking nuclear weapons platform indoors.

It is loud. It is expensive. It is radioactive. It is absolutelty an unnecessary, necessary addition to the mod and your world...

Which is exactly why we (Me and 117Dub) made it happen! (and why YOU will make it too)

Whats your final goal?

Firstly, its to uncover the mysteries you've unleashed. after you're finished playing with fission energy, a meteor will fall. it is up to you to analyze it.

*This will only happen once per player on the server*

Finally, the last frontier...

Enter the Space Age.

Ice titan, Azura

One destination beyond Nibiru, Azura is a frozen alien world of ammonia oceans, beautiful auroras, violent lightning storms, and no breathable atmosphere

Explore the iceberg... literally! Azura is a three-layer planet that features the tip of course, then the ammonia, brine, and abyss layers. Azura is filled with ambience, weather, fog, music, and enough environmental danger to make every trip to the abyss feel like an expedition.

The ammonia layer

The ammonia layer is the first liquid filled "biome" you will encounter in your exploration of Azura. This layer is quite tame and features almost no danger

The brine layer

Azura's brine layer features a complex ecosystem of a good few lifeforms. These "fish" think, have memories, live, and survive day to day. each of them have unique interactions with each other. for instance, the simplest creature, the Gelbiter, lives nearby Jellium colonies in order to get oxygen, they try to avoid Gelstalkers and will retreat and may return home to their little Jellium colony that they inhabit. These Gelbiters will eat Jellium and "mate" over time, this is just a surface level explanation of the complex life you will encounter on Azura.

The abyss layer

The abyss is a terrifying area to explore, being the only source of this planet's key mineral, Magnetoionic Ore, which when refined produces Niobium, Azura's main produce. The abyss has a few creatures, the Abyssal Squid, which is a large, smoothly moving squid that will stalk the player in hopes that they leave their territory. This squid does NOT like visitors. When storm levels are high on Azura, they may even migrate upwards into the brine layer, as they do become curious and sometimes like the warmth of the hydrothermal vents.

Azura is meant to be a planet filled with curious and complex life, something not commonly seen in many mods (lol, Minecraft AI am I right?). For those prepared to survive, Azura offers rare chemistry and materials impossible to find back home (which is kind of the main idea when including planets). Process ammonia ice and brine directly into their liquids, collect alien ores and figure out their interactions, exploit Jellium for unlimited oxygen, and possibly even make new, overpowered technological advancements! Azura is a beautiful, hostile, resource-rich, and deeply unwelcoming planet.

And if Azura wasnt already enough...

Energy factory, Vulcan

Vulcan is a high-pressure volcanic world covered in regolith, sulfuric acid oceans, strange ores, and extreme environmental conditions. The planet uses a heavy pressure system, with a pressure gauge overlay to help you survive long enough to actually work there (Heads up, stay in your bubble or get to high ground to avoid these problems). Its day and night cycle is also incredibly long, inspired by Venus, making each visit feel far removed from normal Minecraft time.

Vulcan is where RTC2 turns into full industrial automation.

Build electric poles, lightning rods, accumulators, fans, fluid pipes, pumps, acid vats, arc furnaces, quarries, loaders, barrels, counters, transistors, automation machines, and so much more. Set up loose item logistics, fluid movement, energy networks, quarry lines, acid washing and smelting arrays, and hands-free production chains across a planet that very much does not want you there.

Progress through Silisteel and Chromium, Zirconium and Hafnium, Gallium and Germanium, then finally, Neodymium, Praseodymium, and Thorium processing as you climb through Vulcans tech tree. Use laser diodes, detectors, beam splitters, prisms, powered prisms, and colored laser recipes to unlock photonics, play around with quite accurate recreations of atomic emission spectroscopy, and late-game material separation puzzles.

The deeper you go into Vulcan's industry, the more ridiculous it gets. Arc blast furnaces, acid reactors, sulfuric acid crackers, hydrolysis reactors, fusion reactors, reactor reacting reactors, all sorts of reactors you can think of! Make the late-game circuit automation spaghetti nightmare you wish you never would have dreamt of. Vulcan is a factory planet that rewards planning, automation, and suffering.

Then when you've completed this logistical nightmare, bring the power back home and automate or mine whatever you want!

When all's said and done,

Revel in humanities legitimate greatest achievement, medicine.

Featuring a wide array of medicinal compounds, this system offers scientifically-grounded yet accessible synthesis routes, inspired by real pharmacological principles and adapted to the minecraft world. Each synthesis is openly documented, highlighting both the scientific complexities and practical challenges involved, fostering a greater appreciation for the advancements of modern medicine. With pharmacodynamics thoughtfully scaled to the game's context, players can explore the fascinating intersection of chemistry and healthcare; building, learning, and discovering in a way that's both educational and deeply engaging.

RTC2's Medicinal Shading!

A quick showcase for the special entheogens can be seen in this video:

The shaders can be toggled on and off using the default keybound HOME button. this will also refresh the RTC2 shader pipeline in case of any glitches.

Whether you are a chemistry enthusiast or simply looking for a fresh and exciting addition to your game, Real Time Chemistry promises a thrilling and immersive experience that combines education, exploration, and entertainment. Unleash your inner chemist and embark on a remarkable journey into the world of chemistry with RTC

Never attempt even a single recipe found in this mod unless that is your actual job as a chemist. But why you'd be mixing bottles over a crafting table? I have no clue.

**PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU PLAY!**

RTC is a challenging mod to overcome due to the amount of resource gathering and crafting youll go through, there are a ton of steps in between items. the average time to nuclear items is 100 in-game days.

RTC can be laggy for a low end computer, but definitely still playable all the way through.

Multiplayer compatibility is 100%, but the player with the best machine should be the hoster.

Using shaders during space travel may prevent the custom outer-planet skyboxes from rendering as intended. This is a shader compatibility limitation, not an issue with the space environment itself. For the intended visual experience, please turn shaders off before traveling through space.

You do not need any chemistry knowledge to complete RTC, you may simply use JEI to look at all the normal recipes, for the special blocks and machines, tooltips are in place to make it as simple as possible to figure out how they are used.

You must be prepared to think about your next course of action, many things you do in RTC will have consequences if you make a mistake.

If you enjoy the challenges I've explained above, then this mod is for you.

Unleash you inner chemist with Real Time Chemistry 2!

How will your first moments in RTC be?

Better boot up and find out!

Maybe youll end up like this guy!

Compatibility

Most shader bugs get fixed when using FABULOUS! graphics settings. Shader bugs return when using shaders with Iris + Shaderpacks. In detail, RTC2 uses quads with shaders rendered through them, must like the viewport but in world. Things like laser beams and objects like the Sun, Auroras, and Vulcan Clouds stop working when combined with external shader renderers. If something looks strange (or doesn't render at all), turn off shader packs.

All ores and ingots found in RTC2 are tagged correctly except for a few specific ones (intentional), this is playable with all your favorite tech mods, but is recommended to be played standalone except for some performance and storage mods, since RTC2 is quite heavy on the server and client load.

This mod is compatible with EntityCulling but is recommended not to be played alongside it, due to special entities found within RTC2.

The mod is compatible with Create. If you run both mods at once it will "just work".

Compat with Create Sifting is available for RTC2, in which you may sift gravel and sand for unlimited RTC2 ore products.

If your planets aren’t cycling, try rejoining or running /reload

this glitch only seems to happen upon world creation and never again.

For the item backgrounds

To automatically apply custom tooltip background styles to your items, simply tag them with any of the following ItemTags in your mod in a 'rtc' folder such as:

data/rtc/tags/items/

and tag as such:

rtc:chemical
rtc:ore_products
rtc:metal
rtc:material
rtc:radioactive
rtc:explosive
rtc:weapons
rtc:ammunition
rtc:medicine
rtc:utility
rtc:special_space
rtc:psychedelics

Recommended companion mods:

Embeddium/[Sodium + Iris] (iris: compatible with everything but breaks immersion due to RTC's custom skybox usually being overwritten. Use Embeddium or Sodium only for pure performance and intended visuals)

C2ME (for incredibly fast chunk loading)

Just Enough Items (JEI)

with EMI (for crafting trees)

Sophisticated Storage (because RTC2 offers more of a logistical problem than a grinding problem)

Iron Furnaces (incompatible with the outer space "immersive" smelting puzzles but recommended for general gameplay)

Create (because everything is 'better' with create)

Create Sifting (because who doesn't like unlimited resources?)

Born in Chaos (so you have something to test these weapons on!) [Unknown compat with outer space]

L_Ender's Cataclysm (so you can show those "bosses" whos boss!) [Unknown compat with outer space]

legend: [Almost necessary], [For simplicity], [Unnecessary]
