Description
Smart Quick Move Tweaks (Quick Slot Priority)
Smart shift-click behavior. When a single item can go into multiple slots, this mod decides which slot to try first — and you decide the rules.
The problem
Minecraft's default shift-click (quick move) is dumb. It always puts blaze powder in the fuel slot even if you wanted it as an ingredient. It won't let you trade items quickly with a villager. It doesn't know that some logs work better as smeltables than as fuel. And it happily equips cursed armor if you are not careful.
The solution: This mod
Brewing Stand
- Configurable slot order (
potion, ingredient, fuel) globally or per item. - Smart fuel — multi-role items only go to fuel when the stand is out of heat.
- Smart ingredient — only allows mixes that produce a real potion result; blocks Mundane / Thick dead-ends (strict / flexible / disabled).
- Auto bottle — after placing a bottle, fills the other potion slots with matching bottles from your inventory.
Furnaces (Furnace / Blast Furnace / Smoker)
- Configurable slot order (
ingredient, fuel) globally or per item. - Automatic recipe and fuel detection (works with modded cookables and fuels).
- Smart furnaces — blocks manual placement into the ingredient slot when there is no cooking recipe.
- Smart log — keeps logs / wood out of the fuel slot so you can smelt them to charcoal and burn planks instead.
- Optional replace-on-occupied + protect lists so valued fuel/ingredients are not swapped away.
Stonecutter & Enchanting Table
- Smart stonecutter — blocks manual placement of items with no stonecutter recipe (vanilla still filters quick-move).
- Smart enchanting table — blocks quick-move of non-enchantable items into the table.
Inventory: shield, armor & off-hand
- Smart shield — shift-click a shield to replace the off-hand one using enchant / durability priority.
- Smart armor — shift-click armor to replace the equipped piece (tier / enchant / durability priorities). Never equips Curse of Binding pieces through quick-move, even into empty slots.
- Secondary item — shift-click listed items into the off-hand (
only_emptyorreplace_shieldmodes; torch and totem by default).
Villager Trading
- Shift-click items directly into trade slots, with rules for occupied left/right slots and emerald-on-left cases.
- Auto-sell / auto-buy with configurable delay. Auto-sell is on by default for the stack you just moved (not your whole inventory).
- Offer auto-detect: if the villager can buy it, shift-click is allowed.
- Separate blacklists for auto-sell and auto-buy.
- Auto-trade requires the mod on both server and client. Ordering is enforced server-side; auto-execution runs on the client.
auto_sell_allis experimental. Disabled by default, requires confirmation, and may still misbehave. Use at your own risk.
Fully configurable
Every decision is driven by JSON under config/quickslotpriority/ (brewing, furnace, trading, others) with inline documentation. Edit on disk or in-game with /quickslot_config without leaving the world.

Personalizable
You can decide when, why, where and how quick move acts: enable/disable modules, smart rules, blacklists, protect lists, and per-item orders.
Server side and single-player
Nearly all functions work for all players on a server even if they don't have the mod. Client installation is optional but recommended for commands and required for auto-trading.
Compatibility
- Works with any modded brewing stand or furnace that extends
AbstractFurnaceMenuorBrewingStandMenu. - Verified compatible with
Mouse TweaksandInventory Sorter(until 1.0.1, should be compatible with most recent versions too). - May cause conflict with
Fast Slot.
Performance
- No per-tick loops for shift-click ordering. Logic runs when you shift-click (auto-trade uses a small client tick only while a trade is armed).
- No render hooks. Zero impact on FPS (I hope).
- Negligible CPU cost: a HashMap lookup and a small list iteration per click.

This mod would not exist without the work of:
- Ocle_42 — author of Fast Slot, which inspired the original project idea and the configurable slot-priority approach.
- TAS_69 — reddit user who contributed the initial brewing stand code and the core idea behind the item-slot priority system.
- Lothrazar — author of Shift Click Villager Trading. The villager trading integration in this mod was developed with his implementation as a reference for the GUI event flow and slot handling.
- GordeyStudio — author of Bulk Villager Trading Reborn. Used as a reference for the auto-trade execution logic and packet synchronization.
Both villager trading mods are MIT-licensed, and their code served as a learning reference for implementing the trading module in Quick Slot Priority. Full credit to their authors for the parts of this mod that resemble their work.
