Player Activity Tracker
An original activity diagnostics module maintained by DanielBasov (Steam & Steel). It sends bounded client reports to the connected Minecraft server and stores activity records on that server.
Features
- Records selected interactions, movement checkpoints, dimension changes, inventory snapshots and container diagnostics.
- Reports client mod IDs and versions once per connection. Client reports are self-reported diagnostic observations, not authoritative anti-cheat evidence.
- Adds server-side logout and block-interaction records, with optional claim information from the separately installed Open Parties and Claims mod.
- Uses bounded packets, rate limits and an asynchronous JSONL writer. Reports go through the Minecraft connection; this implementation does not use an external telemetry service.
Usage
Install compatible versions on the server and participating clients. The server stores records under its world directory in activity-tracker/YYYY-MM-DD.jsonl.
Records can include player identifiers and names, timestamps, dimensions and coordinates, item IDs/counts/damage, interactions, screen/container diagnostics and client mod IDs/versions. Reporting is enabled by default in this version, with an in-game notice. To opt out of client reporting, set enabled=false in config/steamsteelactivity.properties before launching the client. Server-side event records are separate from the client reporting switch. Server owners should explain their recording policy and restrict access to these records.
The mod ID is steamsteelactivity; the preserved internal version is 0.2.0. Do not install this standalone file together with the full Companion or another copy of the same module. Existing packet identifiers and record formats are preserved.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Java 21.
- NeoForge 21.1.235 or later within the declared NeoForge range.
- Optional: Open Parties and Claims 0.28.1 or later, installed separately.
These requirements retain the original module's dependency declarations. They do not establish testing with every later dependency version or arbitrary modpack. This release does not bundle server-specific configuration as a replacement for the Steam & Steel modpack.
From Steam & Steel
This is the author's own module, developed for Steam & Steel SMP and previously included in Steam & Steel Companion, also maintained by DanielBasov. That page identifies the earlier distribution of the module; it is not a link to a third-party codebase or a public source repository.
This standalone package exposes only the activity tracker from that bundle. The tracker implementation is preserved; it is not a new implementation of all Companion features. It is distinct from the separate Discord Logs mod.

Open Parties and Claims is by xaero96, with source code here, under LGPLv3. Player Activity Tracker uses its optional claim-query API when OPAC is installed. OPAC's implementation and assets are not included in this JAR.
Minecraft and NeoForge are installed separately and retain their respective ownership and licenses. This is an independent addon.
Beta / Feedback
This is a beta standalone package. Local checks matched all 18 tracker class files against the author's earlier development build and the embedded Companion module, and checked the dependency declarations and persistent identifiers. A separate full-game launch, player join and standalone gameplay verification have not been performed for this packaging.
If you encounter a crash, error or unexpected behaviour, leave a comment with the tracker, Minecraft, NeoForge and relevant dependency versions, plus steps to reproduce the issue. Remove private player information from any attached records. We will investigate reported bugs and work on fixes.
