Steam & Steel Companion

Server progression, world rings, equipment interfaces and original integrations for the Steam & Steel industrial survival pack.

Steam & Steel Companion

The original server mechanics and integrations behind Steam & Steel's industrial survival pack: production chains, equipment preparation and expeditions across a world of six rings.

Features

The package brings our own modules together while preserving their existing mod IDs and world/network identifiers. It contains server progression, resource and dungeon rings, the Black Frost biome, equipment interfaces, exosuit modules, claim capacity, player reports and private locator beacons.

It also preserves the server's configured surface-rule integration with Lithostitched, TerraBlender, Luminous Nether, Vanilla Backport and Quark's Biolith. The TerraBlender/Biolith overrides apply only to Nether rules; Overworld/End behaviour remains in place. Lithostitched's surface-rule application and Luminous Nether's additional startup surface injection are disabled to match this pack's existing rules. From 0.1.1-beta, Vanilla Backport 1.1.7.10's additional surface-rule injection is also disabled, preserving the existing server override while using the official unmodified mod.

This package includes intentional server mechanics, recipe and progression changes. It is separate from the standalone bugfix series.

Included modules

  • Nourished Inventory UI — Client-side inventory nutrition panel, disabled world nutrition HUD, and F 1 support for Simple Voice Chat HUD.
  • Activity Tracker — Client-side activity summaries with bounded server-side storage.
  • Beacons — Private locator beacon blocks with minute-spaced Xaero markers and persistent last-known positions. Inventory and held item use a two-sided locator phone model.
  • Steam & Steel: Black Frost — Standalone atmospheric worldgen biome for Black Frost.
  • Diamond Steel Recipes — Correct heat requirements and separate Diamond Steel mixing routes.
  • Digging Guard — Limits Digging to one functional level and one ordinary book in recipe catalogs.
  • Dungeon Rings — Overworld-only structure-start and monster-room gates using the shared distorted six-ring API. Does not change loot, natural mob spawns or ores.
  • Equipment — Compact inventory workbench for exosuit modules, weapon attachments and their key bindings.
  • Exosuit HUD Keys — Minimal Scorched Guns exosuit HUD below ammunition, with current module controls.
  • Exosuit Medical — Powered, cartridge-fed medical injector for native Scorched Guns exosuits. Uses existing SSC access and climate control.
  • Exosuit Armor Plates — C/B/A material tiers for native Scorched Guns exosuit plating. Superior protection starts at C.
  • Grim Structure Guard — Removes command blocks from Grim Kingdoms templates and generated structures.
  • Oil Deposit Protection — Protects TFMG oil deposits against destruction and transfer.
  • Ore Rings — Overworld ore progression with shared radial geometry, distinct depth profiles and material-aware TFMG layers. Existing worlds are not retro-generated. Oil, loot, mobs and terrain are unchanged.
  • Progression Prototype — Server-seed prototype: one Black Frost footprint, shared rings, restricted oil at Y -185. Other progression stages are not enabled.
  • Rank Icons — Client resource assets used by TAB to display Steam & Steel player ranks.
  • Shutdown Sound — Original shutdown signal before a normal dedicated-server stop.
  • Catalog — One client Creative tab and shared SteamSteel search aliases for our registered items; no extra recipes, items or world changes.
  • Core — Server progression, integrated interfaces, exosuit access and production rules for the Steam & Steel pack.
  • OPAC — Additional OPAC claim capacity through the existing SSC bank and menu. No extra claim protection or warfare rules.
  • Radial Worldgen — Warped six-ring temperature and humidity profiles with cold-north / hot-south branches for Natural Temperature.
  • Workshop Recycling — 29 Create crushing, milling and paper recipes; sawdust and its 100-tick fuel use. Independently implemented with original pixel artwork. Legacy sawdust and recipe IDs are retained.
  • Reports — Opt-in external diagnostics and individual access after ezLogin authentication.

Revision 0.1.2-beta also includes the current server Catalog module and refreshed Core/Exosuit Medical implementations, acquired against the generated AutoModpack hashes on 14 October 2026 JST.

Revision 0.1.3-beta adds Workshop Recycling as a replacement for CreateCare 0.1.5.2. It preserves the functional ingredient/output quantities, probabilities and processing times of all 29 recipes. The optional ruby recipe loads only when both original ruby items exist.

Usage

Use the matching Steam & Steel modpack release, which supplies the original third-party mods and the server-specific configurations. This addon does not bundle those third-party mods. Do not install the old separate copies of these 23 modules together with this package.

Remove the old CreateCare JAR before installing 0.1.3-beta: Workshop Recycling retains the create_care mod ID and create_care:sawdust item ID for compatibility. Installing both creates duplicate mod IDs. This newly implemented replacement has not yet been tested in the live server world.

Private beacons retain their existing tracking rules. Reports keep their opt-in external diagnostics and authenticated access. The activity module sends bounded activity summaries and inventory/mod diagnostics to the connected server; this functionality is part of the server pack.

Standalone Tank Compatibility, Omni Speed Controller Fix, Featurify Feature Order Fix, Luminous Nether Death Fix and the other individual bugfix projects remain separate installations.

Compatibility

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.235, Java 21. Install the companion on the server and in player profiles. Required original integrations include Create, TFMG, Scorched Guns Neoforged, Sable, Xaero's Minimap, Nourished/MariesLib, Natural Temperature, Regions Unexplored, Numismatics, Open Parties and Claims, Featurify, Lithostitched, TerraBlender, Luminous Nether, Vanilla Backport and Quark/Biolith. The module metadata declares the relevant dependencies and versions.

Server-specific world generation settings are intended for the Steam & Steel server setup. Existing terrain is not regenerated merely by installing the addon.

From Steam & Steel

This package is the companion to our Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge community server. The pack description is based on our existing website prototype: Engineering. Industry. Expeditions. Server:steamsteel.minecraft.best.

Acknowledgements

Workshop Recycling was inspired by the functional recycling rules in Create: Crushing and Recycling everything (CaRe), by pa3_p43. Its Java implementation and pixel artwork are original; no CaRe code, textures, logo or description are bundled.

All original third-party mods retain their own authorship and licenses. Identical Create texture copies have been replaced with references to the original installed Create resources. Fonts and the modified Scorched Guns armor texture keep their original notices and licenses. Our rank artwork was drawn by DanielBasov. The shutdown signal is an original composition.

Beta / Feedback

This is a beta release derived from the specific Steam & Steel server pack used by our players. The newly packaged release has been checked locally; it has not yet been verified by a fresh player joining through CurseForge.

If you encounter a crash, an error or unexpected behaviour, leave a comment with the addon version, Minecraft and NeoForge versions, relevant mod versions, and steps to reproduce the problem. Include a log with private details removed. We will investigate reported bugs and work on fixes.

The 23 nested modules were detected through NeoForge's actual JarJar selector. Local package checks verify mod IDs, payload hashes, resource-reference-only class changes and preserved implementation classes. The additional surface/death Mixins were applied to real upstream classes and checked in the JVM. Workshop Recycling additionally passed functional recipe/tag/advancement comparisons, the actual NeoForge condition codec, and a bounded fuel/creative-tab bytecode fixture. This does not establish fresh-gameplay or first-player installation success.
