| Minecraft | Loader for the reference setup | Pixelmon reference version | Java | Rare categories | Optional title |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.12.2 | Forge 14.23.5.2860 | 8.4.3 | 8 | Shiny, Legendary, Ultra Beast, Boss | Pokémon name |
| 1.16.5 | Forge 36.2.34 | 9.1.12 | 8 | Shiny, Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast, Boss | Not implemented |
| 1.20.2 | Forge 48.1.0 | 9.2.7 | 17 | Shiny, Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast, Boss | Title and subtitle |
| 1.21.1 | NeoForge 21.1.248 | 9.4.1 | 21 | Shiny, Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast, Boss | Title and subtitle |
Use one matching add-on JAR, not all four. Pixelmon must be installed separately on both the server and clients. This add-on runs on the logical server and is configured to allow clients without the add-on itself. That does not remove the client's Pixelmon or loader requirements. Actual remote-client gameplay has not been tested for these releases.
These are reference dependency versions, not a claim that every newer release is compatible or tested. Check the requirements and changelog of the individual file. The 1.12.2 edition is compiled with Forge 14.23.5.2847 tooling, while Pixelmon 8.4.3 requires Forge 14.23.5.2860+ on the client; use the runtime setup in the table.
Features
- Chat messages list the enabled rare categories matching a Pokémon from Pixelmon's spawn pipeline.
- Alerts wait until the end of the server tick and require successful insertion into the world, so rejected or canceled candidates do not trigger premature notifications.
- Default radius: 512 blocks in the same dimension. Set
alertRadiusto -1 to reach all players in that dimension. - Optional spawn coordinates and distance for each receiving player.
- Optional vanilla chime: note-block chime in 1.12.2/1.16.5; amethyst chime in 1.20.2/1.21.1.
- UUID deduplication uses a 15-minute expiry and retains up to 1,024 entries; entries may be evicted when capacity is reached. Pending spawn queues are also bounded.
- Category switches, a master switch and optional debug logging.
The 1.12.2 edition has no separate Mythical classifier: its alertMythical setting is retained but inactive. Mythical species may fall under Pixelmon's Legendary classification. The 1.16.5 edition has no on-screen title; its reserved showTitle setting has no effect. Titles are disabled by default in editions that support them.
Detection covers Pixelmon's SpawnEvent pipeline. Command spawns, Poké Ball releases or battle summons that bypass that pipeline are outside its scope. Players in other dimensions or outside the radius do not receive alerts.
Commands and configuration
Operator permission level 2 is required:
/rarespawnalert status
/rarespawnalert reload
/rsa status
/rsa reload
Configuration locations differ by edition:
| Minecraft | Server configuration |
|---|---|
| 1.12.2 | config/pixelmonrarespawnalert.cfg — Forge .cfg format |
| 1.16.5 | <world>/serverconfig/pixelmonrarespawnalert-server.toml |
| 1.20.2 | <world>/serverconfig/pixelmonrarespawnalert-server.toml |
| 1.21.1 | config/pixelmonrarespawnalert-server.toml |
Edit the generated config for your server and use /rsa reload. In 1.12.2 reload rereads the file directly; the newer editions retrigger the loader's file watcher, so applying changes is asynchronous. Use the edition-specific description for a copyable config example; do not paste TOML into the 1.12.2 .cfg file.
Validation and license
Builds and isolated regression harnesses check the code; they do not replace complete in-game testing. A dedicated-server smoke test was performed for the 1.21.1 reference setup, without connected players or a positive rare-spawn gameplay test. Chat rendering, remote login, sound and titles have not been verified with real players. Check the individual release notes for exact coverage.
